A business informatics specialists’ professional activities are aimed towards development and application of information technologies and mathematical methods for solving business analysis problems in order to seek possible solutions (including managerial ones) for the development and optimization of business processes in an organization.
Business Informatics specialists are engaged in developing architecture of an enterprise, managing integration projects, building models of an enterprise in terms of data, applications, and infrastructure; analyzing and modeling business processes in order to further implement information systems.
Educational Process
The syllabus provides for future specialist’s knowledge and skills related to business analysis, design of models, methods, algorithms, software, instruments required for business analysis. Moreover, students develop research skills.
Throughout their learning students acquire:
— Necessary mathematical knowledge obtained by studying “Linear algebra”, “Mathematical analysis”, “Differential and difference equations”, “Discrete mathematics and combinatorial algorithms”, “Mathematical logic and algorithm theory”, “Finite graph theory”, “Probability theory and mathematical statistics”, “Mathematical models in economics and finance”, “Stochastic financial analysis”, “Econometrics”;
— Necessary knowledge in software development and information technologies, which is made possible by studying “Computer systems architecture”, “Operational systems”, “Computer systems, networks and telecommunications”, “Relational databases”, “Distributed systems”, “Information security”, “Programming basics”, “Programming technology”, “Algorithms and complexity analysis”, “Java and its applications”, “IT services and content management”;
— Necessary knowledge in economics and IT management thanks to studying “Macroeconomics”, “Microeconomics and management”, “Enterprise architecture”, “General system theory”, “IT infrastructure of enterprise”, “Basics of corporate information communication system development”, “Business process modelling”, “Decision support systems”, “Data analysis”, “Design of corporate systems”, “E-commerce”, “ICT market and sales organization”.
Students can choose professional specialization from one of the two modules: mathematical modelling in business informatics or program engineering in business informatics.
Practice
The syllabus provides for research internship to develop practical skills and their integration with theoretical knowledge, research work and undergraduate internship.
Academic internship and research work are carried out using the computer center of the Office of Information Technology Support, low-voltage and telecommunication systems of the RUDN University, scientific and educational laboratory “Information communication Management” of the Department of Applied Informatics and Probability Theory, scientific centers and laboratories of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Telecommunications.
Undergraduate internship is carried out in accordance with cooperation agreements with the Federal Research Center “Computer Science and Control” of the Russian Academy of Sciences, LLC “Technologies of System Analysis”, CJSC “RosInternet Technologies”, at the enterprises of Domodedovo Airport within the framework of the “Pritok” program.
Students annually have the opportunity to take part in master classes held by leading experts and representatives of employers in the real sectors of economy, Russian and foreign scientists from leading universities and research centers, in academic mobility programs in accordance with cooperation agreements with foreign scientific organizations, in particular Tampere University, Brno University of Technology, Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria, University of Pisa, University of Lisbon, King's College London, University of Granada, KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
Career
Bachelor graduates with a degree in in Business Informatics can build their careers both as developers of specialized software, specialists in the development and implementation of information systems for various purposes, and in the management of IT sectors of enterprises, IT project managers, IT consultants in the area of information communications and intellectual systems.
Possible jobs: business analyst, information system specialist, IT project manager, software developer, system analyst.
Possible employers: domestic and foreign companies, the banking sector, analytical and IT departments of state corporations and IT companies.
