Profession
The professional activity of bachelor graduates specialized in “Fundamental Informatics and Information Technologies” is aimed at the development and application of information systems in different sectors of economy, as well as scientific research on the analysis of novelty, reliability and efficiency of existing and developed infocommunication systems and their elements.
Graduates who have mastered the program can work as information system specialists, architects and developers of information system software modules, system administrators and IT consultants in IT departments of state corporations and private companies. They are capable of conducting research in leading scientific institutions in the development and analysis of mathematical and simulation models of infocommunication systems and networks and intelligent systems.
Educational Process
The course aims to develop modern knowledge and skills related to mathematical and algorithmic modeling, programming, development of software systems and complexes, methods of their design and implementation, methods of production, maintenance, operation and administration of infocommunication systems for various purposes. In addition, students acquire skills of research activities in the development and investigation of algorithms, protocols, computational models and databases for the implementation of functions and services of information technology systems, as well as the development of architecture, algorithmic and software solutions for system and application software.
While mastering the course, students acquire basic mathematical knowledge in the following subjects: “Algebra and Analytic Geometry”, “Discrete Mathematics”, “Mathematical Logic and Theory of Algorithms”, “Theory of Finite Graphs”, “Mathematical Analysis”, “Differential and Difference Equations”, “Theory of Probability and Mathematical Statistics”; “Computational methods”, “Mathematical modeling”, “Modeling of information processes”, “Optimization methods and operations research”.
The course provides for the acquisition of knowledge by students in the most important sections of fundamental informatics and information technology through mastering the following subjects: “Architecture of computing systems”, “Operating systems”, “Computer systems, networks and telecommunications”, “Information security”, “Programming basics”, “Technology programming”, “Algorithms and complexity analysis”, “Intelligent systems”, “Java and its applications”, “Computer graphics”, “Theory of automata and formal languages”, “Modeling of complexly structured systems”, “Software engineering”, “Relational bases data”, “Database management systems”, “Data mining”.
As the professional specialization, students can choose one of the modules: system administration and modeling of data transmission networks; scientific research in artificial intelligence; scientific research in infocommunications; scientific research in mathematical modeling, numerical methods and software packages.
Practice
Research and pre-diploma internships are real opportunities for students to try themselves as research chemists. The Department of Organic Chemistry of the Faculty of Science (the RUDN University) jointly with the University of the Cote d’Azur (France) is the degree-granting department under this program. Practical training and academic research are conducted in educational and research laboratories equipped with modern instrumentation and analytical equipment at the degree-granting department and partner university. Scientific centers of the Joint Institute for Chemical Research have been established at the faculty to carry out scientific work and research:
— scientific center “Crystal Chemistry and Structural Analysis”;
— scientific center “Cluster of streamlined synthesis of natural compounds”;
— scientific center “Microwave-assisted Organic Synthesis”.
Students of the Master’s program participate actively in research grant work. There are opportunities for international collaborations and study abroad.
Career
Bachelor graduates in Fundamental Informatics and Information Technologies can build their careers as developers of specialized software, specialists in development and implementation of information systems for different purposes, administrators of the organization's network subsystems, IT project managers, IT analysts and IT consultants in sphere of infocommunications and intellectual systems.
Possible jobs: information systems specialist, information technology project manager, software developer, systems analyst, system programmer, system and network administrator in an organization, researcher.
