The profession of HR manager is universal and in demand in almost all sectors of the economy: from industrial production to banking, from telecommunications to services. Modern life presents HR managers with increasingly complex tasks that require new knowledge and competencies.
HR manager is a profession of the new millennium. There are significant differences between personnel officer and HR manager. Personnel officers carry out “coordination of human resources of the enterprise”, while the HR manager solves the tasks of building an integrated personnel management system.
In the coming years, the pool of HR professions will become more diverse, more interesting and more complex. The HR specialist has become a full-fledged participant in all company processes. It helps to build a team, work more efficiently and develop the whole team. It has long been not just a “personnel officer” who registers employees for work and signs an application for leave.
Educational Process
Active forms of education are widely used in the master’s programme, the programme includes hours during which masters gain skills in working with specialized software products, and opportunities for deeper mastery of a foreign language are provided. Students participate in scientific conferences and research projects, including foreign ones. Internships abroad and student exchange programs are also common practice at the university.
The program is a synthesis of the world's advanced theory in the field of personnel management in a cross-cultural environment and the effective refraction of the practice transmitted by successful practicing business coaches. The program has been developed taking into account the recommendations of HR managers of leading Russian and foreign companies; it assumes the possibility of continuing postgraduate studies and MBA at Russian and foreign universities. The programme is based on the Professional Standard “Personnel Management Specialist”, approved by the order of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation No. 691n dated October 06, 2015, registration number 559.
According to the curriculum, students study the following set of courses: “Modern problems of personnel management in international companies”; “Foreign language of business and professional communication”; “Modern technologies of personnel development management”; “Recruitment technology: foreign and Russian practice”, “Evaluation of labor efficiency and personnel management”; “Cross-cultural management”; “Personnel safety and labor protection”; “State and regional personnel policy”; “Personnel management strategies in international companies”; “Rationing and organization of labor in international organizations”; “Development of labor legislation and its impact on personnel management”; “Job analysis and grading technology in international companies”; “Personality theory: psychology, leadership, teamwork”; “IT-technologies of working with personnel”; “Consulting in personnel management”; “Business Ethics”; “Talent management”.
Students have the opportunity to defend their graduation papers in foreign languages studied at the university.
Practice
The curriculum includes:
— educational internship (practice for obtaining primary professional knowledge and skills);
— pre-graduation internship;
— research paper.
The main places of internship are large international companies, consulting firms, credit organizations, research organizations, departments of the Faculty of Economics and structural divisions of the University, enterprises of various industries and forms of ownership, public organizations, state institutions.
During their studies, students have the opportunity to complete an internship at the University of Shanghai (PRC), the International Institute of Management of the National University of Sciences, Technology and Management of Paris (France), as well as at the University of Nice (France), the Prague Institute of Advanced Training (Czech Republic), the International Business School (ESEI) (Barcelona, Spain).
Career
Upon completion of the master’s programme, specialists in the field of personnel management have excellent prospects for employment. They can take such positions as:
— leading specialist of the organization;
— head of department;
— personnel director of the company/organization;
— project and program manager;
— business partner in the field of human resource management.
These positions are in demand in companies and enterprises of various sizes in the personnel departments, as well as in recruitment agencies of any level, consulting companies. The specialist can develop and implement the personnel policy of the organization, manage the activities of the relevant departments, work on the implementation of programs to motivate and increase staff loyalty, develop the human capital of the enterprise according to a specific strategy, etc.
