International business is a global process from the creation of a small business to its scaling into the global economy. A student of economy in the field of international business acquires a profession which allows him to manage international companies, make effective management decisions in the field of foreign trade, promote the company's brand on international markets, upscale business. All these skills are especially relevant in the conditions of instability of the world economy. Specialists in the field of international business work in Russian and foreign companies, organizations, banks engaged in foreign economic activity, interact with foreign partners on a number of issues — trade, production, finance, investments, management, etc. Specialists in the field of international business are economists with the widest range of knowledge and skills. They manage the business processes of companies at various levels, perform international operations, analyse the company's position in the international environment, monitor the main competitors, participate in the development of international business strategies of the company, plan the company's activities for the future. In some cases, they can organize their own business and manage it themselves.


Educational Process

The programme is focused on practical training of students. The courses of the programme are based on the analysis of real cases, the study of the peculiarities of records management in international companies, the development of the business strategy of companies. The lecturers of the programme are both leading scientists of the university and practitioners who, within the framework of their subjects, explore current problems and cases on supply chain management, as well as personnel, financial and product flow management. The programme is conducted in English language and provides relevant information in the following courses: “International Business Management”; “Customs and Tariff Regulation”; “International Monetary and Credit Relations”; “International Trade”; “International Logistics”; “Corporate Finance”; “Company Innovation Policy”, etc.
Foreign undergraduates study Russian, Russian undergraduates continue to improve their knowledge in the field of professional English.
The programme also offers student to choose elective courses independently.


Practice

The curriculum of this Master’s programme includes organisation and implementation of Master’s research work and pre-graduation internship.
The purpose of students' research work is to prepare for the successful performance and defence of Master’s thesis, as well as to involve students in the scientific life of the Faculty and University. Pre-graduation internship is aimed at deepening the knowledge gained from the completed courses and the acquisition of practical experience by the students. The internship is carried out at the embassies of foreign states, research centres and representative offices of international companies. In order to deepen theoretical knowledge and gain practical skills, lectures, master classes and case studies on the following topics are regularly held: “Application of Innovation in International Business”, “Formation of Business Strategies and Marketing Strategies in International Business Management”. We invite both Russian practitioners and international lecturers, including those from Northern Arizona University (USA): Professor Len Hostetter with his course “Implementation of Marketing Strategies in American Companies (as illustrated by the example of Fedex)”, Professor Eric Scott with “Innovations in International Business Management”, etc. The programme provides for the possibility of internships for Master’s students in foreign universities — Vienna University (Austria), Beijing University (China), Northern Arizona University (USA).


Career

After completing the Master’s programme “International Business” students can work in organisations and enterprises of different forms of ownership, which are engaged in international activities: in foreign business structures; large companies carrying out international business; government agencies; diplomatic and trade missions; international banks.
Graduates of the programme have successfully built careers in IT companies in Colombia and India, in international companies in the Russian Federation, France, South Africa, and some have set up and run their own businesses.
