The combination of competences of a manager and an economist provides graduates of Master’s programme “Corporate Economics and Business Management” with a competitive advantage in comparison with their colleagues in the profession, including foreign ones, at the very beginning of their professional path. Specialists in the field of corporate economics and business management are responsible for balanced managerial decisions, the formation of an effective corporate environment of the company, can successfully operate in the field of executive management of various levels, and provide high-quality business analysis with subsequent strategic plans for improving processes. Professional skills of the graduates allow them to claim the status of highly qualified and competent specialists of management level in companies from different spheres of economy.


Educational Process

The Master’s programme “Corporate Economics and Business Management” is aimed at training economists-managers with modern knowledge of economics and management of national and international companies, possessing skills of analysis, planning, management, who can work in state federal, state municipal institutions, commercial companies and organisations of various types in all sectors of the economy. The peculiarity of the educational process is the simultaneous training of students in two programmes — Master’s programme and MBA business education programme. The curriculum of the programme includes courses in corporate economics, as well as special courses from practitioners to build managerial competencies. Such courses as “Project Management Technologies”, “Economics and Organisation of Business Processes”, “Production and Operations Management”, “Effective Management Decisions”, “Organisational Change Management”, etc. help to create a new format of modern company leaders, whose professional competences provide a qualitatively new level of management and activity organisation. As a result of mastering the Master’s programme, graduates gain an effective set of knowledge and skills, such as:
— Assessment of project efficiency in terms of corporate governance under conditions of uncertainty and dynamism;
— Analysis of trends and prospects of business processes at local, regional and national levels;
— Identification and analysis of external threats and internal factors of enterprise security modeling and optimisation of business processes including the use of information technologies;
— Development of effective solutions in the process of reengineering;
— Management of production, marketing, innovative, personnel and financial spheres of the enterprise activity on the basis of process management methodology;
— Development of the programme-algorithm of organisational changes and assessment of their effectiveness.


Practice

The curriculum of the Master’s programme “Corporate Economics and Business Management” includes two types of internships — pre-graduation and internship in the field of professional activity. Both internships are responsible for the formation of students' mandatory skills and abilities to carry out professional activities in the field of corporate economics and business management.
Employed students may undertake internships at their workplace. For this purpose, an individual assignment is formed for the time allocated for the internship. The content of such assignment includes specific tasks, the execution of which is connected with the field of the organisation and the specificity of the student's job duties, and is aimed at preparing for labour activity for the profession.
The department also provides any type of internship in partner companies. Long-term agreements with organisations make it possible to provide quality bases for consolidation of the knowledge and to carry out effective preparation for work in the speciality. Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, City Supermarket LTD (Azbuka Vkusa brand), Partnership of Russian Society of Appraisers, NRA International GmbH (Austria, Vienna), NIIgazekonomika LTD (leading research centre of PJSC Gazprom in the field of economy, management organisation and forecasting of industry development), Novas SC LTD (oil service company, Skolkovo Foundation resident) and other companies and organisations are ready to accept students to develop their professional competencies annually in their current environment.
As far as practical and research training is concerned, it is especially worth mentioning the regular participation of students in master classes, round-table discussions and additional educational programmes. Topics of events always correspond with the professional orientation of the Master’s programme and the speakers are the leading practitioners: Further Education Programme “Organisation and Development of Business in the EU: Russian and European Experience” and “Smart Technologies: science, education, business”, Master Class of CEO of TESLA Military Technologies Robert German: “Transformation of International Relations”, Annual Master Class of Advisor to Minister of Finance of the Slovak Republic Vladimir Vano: “Economic Relations of Russia and the European Union in Modern Conditions”.
Every year, the students of the programme take part in research paper internship in which they have the opportunity to develop their research skills and ability to work with large volumes of information in their future profession and field of work. Over the past years dozens of projects have been implemented, for example, “Improving the Economic Efficiency of Small Innovative Enterprises in Higher Education Institutions”, “Methodological Provisions for the Formation of an Industrial Enterprise Management System Based on its Potential” and others.

As a result of mastering the programme, the graduate becomes a new generation leader capable of conducting professional activities in national and international business, making competent economic and strategic decisions in modern market conditions and taking into account the peculiarities in the management process at different levels of the company.
