A lawyer is a specialist in the field of law. They are distinguished not only by knowledge of the laws, but also by the ability to apply them. The concept of “lawyer” implies a whole range of activities: a defence lawyer, a judge, a prosecutor, a notary, a legal adviser, an investigator, etc. This profession has always remained in demand. The activity of a lawyer involves knowledge of civil, business, commercial, administrative, labour, financial, international, land, criminal and other branches of law, arbitration procedural, civil procedural law, and the basics of criminal procedural law.
Educational Process
Training is conducted at 17 highly specialized departments of Jurisprudence — General Specialty field of studies.
During the learning process, students participate in project, research and expert work in the field of Russian and international law.
Training is provided in accordance with the approved list of compulsory disciplines of the State Standard, as well as disciplines introduced by the decision of the RUDN University Academic Council as an autonomous educational institution. In each course, students are given the opportunity to choose disciplines based on their own preferences.

Practice
The internship base of the Law Institute helps students take part in professional life while studying. The State Duma, the Federation Council, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Federal Center for Forensic Science, the Supreme and Constitutional Courts, leading lawyer associations — here students of the Law Institute apply the knowledge gained at the university and enhance their professional competence.
Career
The successful graduates of the programme may work at Russian and foreign courts, in arbitration and mediations, for Russian and international legal and consulting companies and banks. The main advantage of a graduate is the knowledge of the finest nuances of work at court or arbitration as clients’ representatives; they are engaged in drafting legal documents, e.g., statements of claim, appeals and cassation complaints, and statements of defense.
Moreover, the programme provides the opportunity to continue research work under postgraduate programme, as well as to teach at law schools.
The graduates of the programme work at the Legal Department and the Judicial Department of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation. They are leading specialists and heads of legal departments in well-known Russian and international companies and law firms, such as Baker McKenzie, Clifford Chance, Deloitte, Allen & Overy, Lidings, EPA&P, Rappoport and Partners, D. Pototsky and Partners advocates’ bureau, Almaz-Antey Concern JSC, Leroy Merlin, Credit Suiss bank, Sberbank, Zenit bank and others.
