Profession

A lawyer in the field of finance is a specialist who is aware of the intricacies of financial legislation and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary for successful legal support of business in modern conditions (including in banking, tax, and payment relations, in the field of financial and currency markets).

Educational Process

Since 2018 the Department of Administrative and Financial Law has implemented a unique Master’s programme — Lawyer in the field of finance. It involves 120 credits, lectures, practical studies, individual work, several types of internship. The Master’s programme is intended to provide a modern level of professional training of students in the field of legal support for the implementation of state control and supervisory functions in finance, as well as for creating conditions for compliance by all subordinate agencies with the requirements of financial discipline (in budgetary, tax, banking, insurance activities, currency regulation and control). The Master’s programme involves practice-oriented courses, most of which have been developed by the RUDN faculty. The courses are provided with appropriate educational and methodological materials. The curriculum is aimed at developing practical skills necessary for a lawyer. The students of the programme have the opportunity to receive unique education, as the best Russian specialists in financial law participate in it. The programme involves the teaching staff of the Department of Administrative and Financial Law of RUDN University with extensive experience in practical activities in the field of finance.

Practice

Students do internship at specialized enterprises and institutions, in government and management bodies: in the Bank of Russia, in the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation; in the Legislative Assemblies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation; in the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation; in the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation; in the Federal Treasury of the Russian Federation; in the Office of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation; in the Office of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring).

Career

The uniqueness of the master’s programme lies in the fact that its graduates get the opportunity to use their knowledge working for state and municipal authorities and performing commercial activities. The curriculum allows the graduates to apply for a job both in legal departments and departments of internal control, internal audit, and financial monitoring.
