Profession
Jurisprudence appeared in antiquity. Since those times we have known Themis, the Goddess of justice. In Russia, jurisprudence as a science arose in the 18th century. Being a lawyer at that time meant being a practitioner in the full sense of the word. Lawyers of the time of Peter the Great were engaged in systematisation and ordering disparate, contradictory acts. The teaching of legal sciences in Russia was initially performed by German lawyers invited by Peter the Great but by the middle of the 18th century Russian professional lawyers took over. The publication of the Complete Collection of Laws and the Code of Laws of the Russian Empire and judicial reform of 1864 brought domestic jurisprudence to the new level. Currently, professional lawyers are in high demand. All branches of law are actively developing, and the market needs highly qualified specialists.
