“The work of a veterinarian anywhere in the world are aimed at diagnosing, treating and preventing animal diseases; protecting the population from diseases common to humans and animals; ensuring the safety of animal products, medicines for animals and feed; preventing the introduction and spread of infectious diseases to territory of the state.
Veterinarians at agricultural enterprises ensure the quality and safety of livestock products. Epizootologists solve the most complex problems of controlling the spread of diseases dangerous to humans and animals. Veterinary doctors of clinics, like a traumatologist, a plastic surgeon or a neurosurgeon, are almost engineers who are able to restore the anatomical integrity and physiological functions of a patient in case of injuries and other severe health problems. Visual and laboratory diagnostic specialists will help identify hidden signs of diseases using non-invasive diagnostic methods. General practitioners, oncologists, endocrinologists, resuscitators and other specialists use modern therapeutic methods to help animals. A veterinarian today is a highly qualified specialist who has modern equipment and world-class technologies in the field of preserving animal health.
Graduates of the program have knowledge about the peculiarities of veterinary practice in Russia and Kazakhstan, and are able to work at any level of veterinary activity: from a small veterinary office to international organizations that regulate animal disease control issues at the interstate level."
Educational Process
“Training takes place in modern educational laboratories, in computer classes with specialized software, in classrooms equipped with multimedia equipment, including for conducting webinars and video conferencing, on the basis of two leading universities - RUDN University and KATRU. The main disciplines of the program are “Anatomy”, “ Cytology, histology and embryology”, “Physiology”, “Pathological physiology”, “Pharmacology”, “Breeding”, “Feeding”, “Animal hygiene”, “Toxicology”, “Clinical diagnostics”, “Internal diseases”, “General and private surgery", "Obstetrics, gynecology and andrology", "Parasitology and invasive diseases", "Veterinary epidemiology and infectious diseases", "Pathological anatomy", "Veterinary and sanitary examination". In the final years, students study in depth the disciplines of medical specializations: “Reconstructive and restorative surgery”, “Veterinary anesthesiology”, “Internal diseases of small animals”, “Veterinary ophthalmology”, “Dermatology”, etc. According to their aspirations, the student can study in more detail the diseases of horses, exotic and zoo animals, rodents, reptiles or birds.
Upon successful completion of the program, students receive the qualification "Veterinary Doctor" and a specialist diploma in specialty 36.05.01 "Veterinary Medicine", a diploma supplement and Diploma Supplement from RUDN University, as well as the qualification "Veterinary Specialist", a bachelor's diploma in the specialty "Veterinary Medicine" "and a diploma supplement from KATRU."
Practice
Students can master practical skills of the profession during educational and practical training at leading enterprises engaged in veterinary and veterinary-sanitary activities in Kazakhstan and Russia. Internships take place in large enterprises and clinics equipped with everything necessary. Successful students have the opportunity to participate in international cooperation programs and foreign internships. Internships and practices in veterinary clinics, agricultural enterprises and research institutes give the student the opportunity to practice the skills acquired during their studies and become familiar with the experience of veterinary specialists of the highest class, as well as take an active part in scientific work carried out on the basis of veterinary organizations At the same time, students attend exhibitions, seminars, round tables and conferences, where they communicate directly with employers and by the end of their studies, most students are either already employed or know exactly where they will go to work after completing the program.
