Profession

Climate project management is a new, dynamically developing area of activity related to the decarbonization of the economy and the formation of carbon unit markets. In the context of climate change, global and regional strategies for adaptation and mitigation of anthropogenic impact on the climate, specialists in this field are extremely in demand in the labor market.
The scope of professional knowledge:
 improvement of the greenhouse gas management system in the regions of the world;
effective management of climate projects at government and commercial enterprises that are major emitters of greenhouse gases;
 assessment of the effectiveness of achieving carbon neutrality of enterprises;
organization of the activities of carbon polygons.

Educational Process

The Master's degree program "Climate Project Management" takes place full-time and lasts 2 years. The language of instruction is English. The labor intensity for each year of study is 60 credits (the credit unit is 36 academic hours).
The main disciplines: "Carbon cycles", "International standards in the field of greenhouse gas management", "Environmental engineering and climate change", "Organization of carbon landfills", "Climate neutral waste management", "Climate change models", "Carbon unit markets", "Development of climate projects".
In addition to the main disciplines, the program provides elective ones – the undergraduate can choose disciplines based on his professional interests: for example, "Remote sensing technologies for assessing climate change", "Low-carbon economics" and others.
The RUDN Institute of Ecology attracts leading practitioners to conduct master classes and open lectures.

Practice

Practice is one of the key elements of the Master's program. The bases of practical training are large companies that emit greenhouse gases, greenhouse gas validation and verification bodies, research organizations, government agencies involved in the implementation of state scientific and technical policy in the field of environmental development and climate change.

Career

Graduates of the program are highly qualified specialists in a rapidly developing industry. Potential employers are:
• Regional and international organizations that are part of the carbon trading system;
• Greenhouse gas validation and verification authorities;
• industrial enterprises of various forms of ownership, laboratories for environmental protection, labor protection;
• Municipal and regional structures engaged in environmental and natural resource protection activities;
• research organizations and centers whose activities are related to the development and improvement of innovative technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions;
