The key professional activity of a bachelor graduate specialized in “Mathematics and Computer Science” is aimed at the development and application of mathematical and algorithmic methods to solve problems in the field of mathematical and computer modeling of different systems (physical, technical, economic, etc.), as well as the development of software systems and complexes for solving applied research problems.
Graduates who have mastered this program can conduct research in leading institutions of science in the development and analysis of mathematical and simulation models in different areas, as well as develop and implement specialized software.
Educational Process
The program aims to develop deep knowledge of mathematics in combination with modern knowledge in the field of computer science. In their professional activities, bachelor graduates mainly deal mathematical, algorithmic and simulation models of complex processes and systems for various purposes, software tools, administration of computing, information processes, as well as other processes of digital economy.
While mastering the programme, students acquire deep mathematical knowledge in the following subjects: “General and Computer Algebra”, “Analytical Geometry”, “Discrete Mathematics”, “Mathematical Logic”, “Theory of Finite Graphs”, “Mathematical Analysis”, “Differential Equations” , “Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics”, “Stochastic Analysis”, “Functional Analysis”, “Theoretical Mechanics”, “Differential Geometry and Topology”, “Optimization Methods and Operations Research”.
The program provides for the acquisition of knowledge by students throughout the course in the most important sections of fundamental informatics and information technology by mastering the following subjects: “Architecture of computing systems”, “Operating systems”, “Computer systems, networks and telecommunications”, “Information security”; “Fundamentals of Programming”, “Programming Technology”, “Algorithms and Complexity Analysis”, “Java and its Applications”, “Computer Graphics”, “Computational Methods”, “Mathematical Modeling”, “Modeling of Information Processes”, “Computer Geometry and Geometric modeling”, “Relational databases”, “Database management systems”.
As a professional specialization, students can choose one of the modules: System administration and modeling of data transmission networks; Scientific research in artificial intelligence; Scientific research in infocommunications; Scientific research in mathematical modeling, numerical methods and software packages. Students are involved in solving scientific problems in the areas of:
- mathematical modeling and computational mathematics;
- optimal control and optimization;
- mathematical economic forecasting, risk analysis.
Practice
The program provides for research work and undergraduate internship for developing practical skills and their integration with theoretical knowledge.
Educational internship and research work are carried out at the computer center of the Information Technology Support Department, low-voltage and telecommunication systems of the RUDN University, and at the scientific and educational laboratory “Infocommunication Management” of the Department of Applied Informatics and Probability Theory and scientific centers and laboratories of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Telecommunications of RUDN University.

Bachelor graduates in Mathematics and Computer Science can build their careers as analysts, research project managers, system administrators, developers of information systems for various purposes and specialized software.
