Plastic surgery today is the elimination of anatomical and (or) functional defects of integumentary and underlying tissues of any localization arising as a result of hereditary and congenital malformations, acute injuries and their consequences, diseases and surgical interventions, including iatrogenic defects, as well as traumatic amputations limbs, their segments and other fragments of the human body of any localization, requiring, inter alia, the use of microsurgical techniques and microsurgical methods (reconstruction manual plastic surgery).
Educational Process
Priority areas in the residency program: plastic with local tissues, plastic with rotated and displaced flaps, acute and balloon dermatotomy, plastic with complex-compound flaps on microvascular anastomoses, various types of combined plastic, organ-preserving and functionally sparing methods for locally advanced malignant breast tumors; functional rhinoplasty, aesthetic septorinoplasty, nose plastic, face and neck plastic in three dimensions, the use of endoscopic techniques, a modern philosophy of facial rejuvenation, supra and subplatmic interventions on the fatty tissue of the face and neck, simple and reliable methods for breast enlargement, classical reduction mammoplasty, polyvalent liposuction (tumescence, vibration-rotation (3D), ultrasound, using a high-frequency pulse) and lipotransfers.
Practice
During training, the resident has the opportunity to participate in all operations that make up the essence of plastic surgery: nose surgery, breast surgery, plastic surgery for age-related changes in the face and neck, liposuction, abdominoplasty, plastic surgery of post-traumatic defects and deformities of the extremities, plastic surgery for contractures, microsurgical operations on peripheral nerves, reconstruction of congenital and acquired defects of the urogenital region in men and women. The resident has the opportunity to get acquainted with the original methods of aesthetic plastic surgery developed at the department.
Career
More and more people from different social groups turn to plastic surgeons for help, which means that the demand for specialists is high. A plastic surgeon can work both in private clinics that provide services in the field of aesthetic medicine, as well as state hospitals and multidisciplinary clinics. The help of plastic surgeons is in demand by cancer patients (for example, after resection of the mammary gland), patients in trauma departments (recovery after operations on the extremities), patients in burn departments, etc.
