Profession
The subject “pulmonology” appeared in Russia recently — in 1986. Earlier lung diseases were treated by general physicians and surgeons. This situation was changed by several factors such as poor ecology, lack of healthy food, and smoking. Mortality from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the main smokers' disease, has increased. By the way, this disease is incurable and worsens the life of the patient every day. A pulmonologist often has to work with a large number of dying and seriously ill patients. And also the number of patients is growing every year, and therefore medicine is increasingly in need of pulmonologists.
The difficulty of the pulmonologist's work is that among his patients, the majority is suffering from severe diseases. And you should have great patience and optimism to convey in a sick person the will to defeat the disease and at the same time discipline him to strictly obey the doctor's requirements. But the combined efforts of the doctor and patient give better results. And this is one of the pleasant moments of the profession.
