Malignant tumors are one of the major cause of mortality in the world, their incidence is growing dramatically. Radiotherapy is one of the methods of treatment of cancer. It uses ionizing radiation to suppress and kill cancer cells. Than method is implemented by a radiation oncologist (radiotherapist). It is a quite complex specialty, and a radiotherapist has to know much to perform it correctly and successfully. It is necessary to calculate the dose and plan its optimal delivery. Radiotherapist is also involved into the process of diagnostics. In general, radiotherapy implies working with cancer patients.

Practice
The practice takes place at Russian Scientific Center of Roentgen Radiology and at Moscow Scientific-research Oncological Institute named after P.A. Herzen.
Career
The qualified radiotherapists have the good opportunity to become staff members of oncological centers, and in some multi- profile clinics – both in the State-run and private.
