Leading Participant in National and International Clinical and Scientific Research

The Institute of Clinical Medicine conducts international clinical trials in phases 1–3, including studies with significant global impact, such as RUSSLAN, CHARM, CORONA, CLCZ69, and others. Its own research projects are regularly awarded grants from major funding organizations, including the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) and the Russian Science Foundation (RSF).

Department of Internal Diseases with Cardiology and Functional Diagnostics Course named after Academician V. S. Moiseev

Founded: From 2002 – Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases; from 2017 – Department of Internal Diseases with Cardiology and Functional Diagnostics Course Named After Academician V. S. Moiseev.

Head: Zhanna Davidovna Kobalava, Doctor of Medicine, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The department trains 2nd–4th year students in the specialties of General Medicine and Dentistry; residents in 7 programs; and postgraduate and doctoral students in 3 specialties. The faculty consists of professors and associate professors with extensive teaching experience and leading expertise in internal medicine. The department’s research team actively participates in expert groups developing national clinical guidelines.

Department of Internal Diseases, Cardiology, and Clinical Pharmacology of the Faculty of Continuous Medical Education (FCME)

Clinical Research Laboratory

The Clinical Research Laboratory is a structural unit of the Department of Internal Diseases, serving as a base for educational and scientific research activities involving research staff, postgraduate students, and clinical residents. Its main focus areas include the search for and development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for the most complex diseases treated in the internal medicine clinic. Research results are regularly published in both domestic and international journals and presented at professional community events. The most effective methods are integrated into the clinical practices of the departments of the RUDN University Clinic.

Scientific Center for Integrative and Translational Medicine

The center’s team works in the fields of internal diseases, cardiology, and clinical pharmacology.

Its objective is to improve diagnostic algorithms and personalize therapy for various diseases in the internal medicine clinic, as well as to study inter-organ syndromes and interactions.

The researchers specialize in investigating the role of the latest laboratory and instrumental methods in diagnosing cardiovascular diseases (arterial hypertension, heart failure, myocardial infarction, infectious endocarditis), liver and kidney diseases, and assessing their prognostic value.

The Institute of Clinical Medicine is an educational and research structural unit of RUDN Institute of Medicine. It includes:

the Center for Interdisciplinary Clinical Problems;
the Heart Failure Center;

The Institute of Clinical Medicine also has a Dissertation Council for Internal Diseases, Cardiology, and Clinical Pharmacology.

The institute of Clinical Medicine trains students in the specialties of General Medicine and Dentistry (2nd–4th year), residents in 7 specialties (Cardiology, Therapy, Rheumatology, Nephrology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Functional Diagnostics), and postgraduate and doctoral students in 3 specialties (Cardiology, Therapy, Nephrology). Additionally, it offers 6 advanced training programs in Cardiology, Therapy, Gastroenterology, Functional Diagnostics, Clinical Pharmacology, and Nephrology.

The strengths of the Institute of Clinical Medicine include its educational and scientific activities, involving students from the 2nd year in research, reflected in publication activity in Russian and international journals, and a high rate of dissertation defenses. Annually, more than 30 postgraduate students are enrolled, with a 90% defense success rate. A remarkable achievement of the institute is its tens of thousands of graduates, who are in demand across various medical fields worldwide and hold leadership positions.

The Institute of Clinical Medicine collaborates with over 30 Russian and international scientific and professional communities, as well as universities.

The institute’s staff includes 10 professors, 17 associate professors, 15 assistants, 6 research fellows, and 3 laboratory technicians, organized into 15 research groups covering more than 20 scientific areas.
