Ecology and natural management
Ecology and natural management

Undergraduate students are offered to study the following specialist areas: “Geoecology”, “Human Ecology”, “Forensic Ecology”, “Expert Activity in Ecology”, “Environmental Management”, “Ecology of Various Natural and Climatic Zones”. For four years of study, students master a wide range of natural-science, socio-economic, humanitarian and professional disciplines. Among them are Analytical Chemistry, Landscape Science, Climatology, Geophysics, Rhetoric, Ecological Audit, Epidemiology and many other disciplines. Theoretical knowledge is supported by educational, research and on-the-job internships.

Graduate students of the field of study “Ecology and Natural Resource Management” are offered training programmes in Russian, English and programmes implemented jointly with foreign universities.

Master’s degree in Russian:

Expertise of Environmental Safety of Nature Management

The programme is developed with a focus on expert activities, including for training specialists in a new area of activity — a forensic environmental expert. Nowadays, the need for such specialists is great due to the growing number of violations of environmental legislation. Students master specialist disciplines: “Theoretical and Procedural Bases of Forensic Ecological Expertise”, “Expert Ecology”, “Special Assessment of Working Conditions”, etc.

Rational Nature Management

This programme trains environmental practitioners, work safety officers, industrial and environmental safety experts. During the training students master such specialist disciplines as “Computer Technologies and Statistical Methods in Ecology and Nature Management”, “Integrated Assessment of Natural and Production Potentials of the Territory”, “Industrial Toxicology”, “Environmental Design and Risk Analysis”. Upon graduation the students are ready to work in the production sector, housing and utilities infrastructure, scientific, consulting and project organizations, management bodies.

Recycling of Production and Consumption Waste

Today man and environment must be protected from the negative impact of waste products and production waste. For this we need responsible specialists. This programme trains the professionals who can apply modern technologies and equipment for waste management. This training programme would be interesting for those who want to participate in expert, supervisory and inspection-auditing activities for monitoring and assessment of safety of projects and industries.

Master’s degree in English:

Economics of Natural Resources Management

Economic and environmental interests are often viewed as opposites. However, the satisfaction of economic demands in isolation from nature may have a disastrous impact on the environment. Conversely, a focus on the environment at the expense of development leads to the impoverishment and disintegration of production. Our graduates become those experts who can deal with the reconciliation of environmental and economic interests. The assessment of natural resources, eco-economic analysis of the activity of an enterprise, justification of projects and environmental management systems — these and other professional skills are mastered by students of this field of study.

Applied Ecology

Development of programmes of industrial development of the territory, projects of enterprises and territorial environmental protection schemes, environmental impact assessment and assessment of environmental and human impact risks, environmental monitoring, waste storage, processing and disposal — these are the skills mastered by graduates-ecologists. The programme includes a wide range of disciplines that provide both knowledge and skills in solving scientific and applied problems in the field of nature management.
Master’s degree programmes implemented in cooperation with foreign universities (International mobility is an important element of joint programmes. To obtain a double degree diploma, students must be trained both at their own university and in a partner university).

Nature Management

The programme was launched within the framework of the SCO Network University; it is implemented jointly with partner universities of the network.
The entire programme is designed in such a way as to train experts in the use of natural resources in scientific and practical terms. Graduates can carry out the environmental impact assessment and monitoring of the environment, calculate the risks of the impact of various economic activities on nature. Industrial development of the territory, the design of enterprises, the creation of environmental protection schemes, the development of systems of waste storage, processing and disposal — our graduates know how to develop the world without polluting it.

Sustainable Development

The programme has been developed and is implemented in cooperation with the University of Palermo (Università degli Studi di Palermo, Italy).
Specialists trained upon this programme will engage in ensuring harmonious coexistence of man and nature. Both at local and international levels, sustainable development experts carry out environmental monitoring, analyze the state of the environment in dynamics, monitor water quality in various types of water bodies, develop methods and devices for more effective monitoring. All these aspects are learnt by the students-ecologists trained upon the master’s degree programme “Sustainable Development”.
