Specialized Educational Laboratory

The department has a Specialized Educational Laboratory of Customs Examination of Goods and Technical Means of Customs Control and information customs technology classrooms for practical consolidation of the acquired knowledge.

Employment in Specialty for Senior Students

Starting from the 3rd-4th year, students of the Department of Customs are invited to work part-time in their specialty in prestigious foreign trade companies, which allows young specialists to gain the necessary work experience.

5 key reasons for choosing this Institute

The teaching staff of the department has published over 100 scientific articles indexed in international scientific citation databases (Web of Science, Scopus). During the work over 50 scientific works were published: study guides, educational aids, monographs; and more than 20 patents for scientific developments were received.

Students annually undergo practical training at the Eurasian Economic Commission, in specialized departments of customs tariff and non-tariff regulation, trade policy, technical regulation and accreditation, customs infrastructure, customs legislation and law enforcement practice, transport and infrastructure.

Every year our students participate in the All-Russian Olympiad in Customs Affairs, receive prizes and certificates of appreciation. RUDN University has been repeatedly awarded with certificates of appreciation for high-quality training of students participating in the Olympiad.

We actively participate in cultural events such as First-Year Student, Student Spring, Customs Officer’s Day, KVN (humour contest club), as well as in sports competitions in track and field, football, volleyball, skiing and table tennis.

Senior students conduct thematic quests for schoolchildren and college students, help first-year students and foreign fellow students adapt to life at university, understand the academic life. This provides an opportunity to practice foreign languages and improve intercultural communication skills.

About the Institute

The Institute carries out research work in which students are involved along with the academic staff. The main research topics are the most important aspects of customs regulation, e.g., customs and tariff regulation, improving the efficiency of customs authorities, forecasting technologies in customs, risk management system, etc. Teachers and students publish research papers on current issues of customs development, integration relations within the EAEU, economic security, etc.

The Institute implements the educational programme which develops knowledge and skills in protecting intellectual property rights, accounting for confiscated goods, monitoring customs value and determining the country of origin of goods. In addition, future customs officers and foreign economic activity specialists study currency markets, international trade and customs management, and acquire competencies in forecasting and analytical activities.
