International Scientific Board of Medical institute of RUDN University. Lecture "Genetic engineering approaches to the production of recombinant proteins and peptides for biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and research"
As part of the meeting of the International Scientific Board of the Medical Institute, RUDN University will hold a lecture on the approaches for the efficient production of recombinant proteins and peptides for biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and research with examples of specific work carried out in the author's laboratory. The lecturer will explain how certain approaches of gene and protein engineering are applied and adapted, as well as new ones are developed, depending on the task and the requirements for the product.
Lecturer: Alexey Fedorov - Doctor of Biological Sciences, Head of Molecular Biotechnology Group, Federal Research Center for Biotechnology, Russian Academy of Sciences, Leading Researcher, RUDN Research Center for Pathogenesis and Clinics of Socially Significant and Infectious Diseases
A common task in both biotechnology and research is to obtain hydrophobic polypeptides and proteins in soluble forms. You will learn about the system developed on the basis of mini-chaperon, allowing stabilization of hydrophobic proteins, including even completely insoluble proteins, in stable soluble forms. For this purpose, fused constructs from the target protein and thermostable mini-chaperon are created, which, although they can be produced in bacterial cells as inclusion bodies, after renaturation, are soluble, stable and withstand all standard biochemical manipulations.
