Before the festive gala night Rector Filippov met representatives of diplomatic nissions to present a new brand, positioning strategy and standards in the international market. An unusual flash mob was organized – the guests could send greetings to friends all over the world signing special postcards. After February 17, RUDN will send 10,000 postcards to all the countries of the world.
Traditionally more than 1,000 friends and partners of University, students and academics met to celebrate the anniversary.

On the program – guests’ greetings, handing awards and a film “RUDN. Events changing university – 2016 about important milestones. 2016 became a year of success – RUDN confirmed its status as a University of international level, joined the “5-100” program, got 5 QS Stars in 5 categories: teaching quality, internationalization, infrastructure, innovation and social environment; entered Times Higher Education World University Rankings (WUR); acquired a new brand, mission and slogan.
At a big gala concert best student amateur groups from Russia and all the continents performed for the excited guests.

Peoples’ friendship university was founded February 5, 1960 by the decision of the USSR government. February 22, 1961, the University got the name of Patrice Lumumba – one of the symbols of the fight of African peoples. In 1965, the University saw the first graduation of 228 students from 47 countries of the world. Gradually the University became a large academic-research center known world-wide. By 1975, the University had trained more than 5,600 specialists including 4,250 for 89 foreign countries. The same year the University was awarded the Order of Peoples’ Friendship for training specialists for the countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. February 5, 1992, by the decision of the RF Government the University became Peoples’ friendship university of Russia.
The new list of federal innovation sites (FIS) of the Russian Federation includes 30 new organizations. Among them is the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. This became possible thanks to the development of the Digital Preparatory Faculty of RUDN University.
RUDN rose to the 26th position in the UI GreenMetric 2022 ranking and confirmed the status of the “greenest” university in Russia. The ranking includes 1,050 world universities, of which 52 are Russian.
Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia is represented in all 16 subject rankings and in five out of six subject profiles of the Expert Analytical Center ranking. RUDN University showed the best results in the following areas: “Ecology” and “Agriculture and Biological Sciences” — 1st place. “Mathematics”, “Chemistry”, “Artificial Intelligence”, “Renewable Energy” are in the TOP — 5 subject ranking. In total, 152 universities were ranked in 2022 (137 in 2021).
