10 February RUDN University celebrates its birthday The traditional gathering of Alumni, staff and partners will unite more than 1.000 RUDN friends

10 February, RUDN invites you to join the traditional birthday party at 4pm in the assembly hall pf RUDN main building (6, Miklukho-Maklaya str.).

Rector V.Filippov will meet representatives of the diplomatic corps, the guests will watch a film “RUDN. Just one year – 2016” and enjoy performances of the best RUDN amateur groups at the gala-concert.

2016 has become the year of achievements when RUDN has confirmed its status as a world class university: RUDN started the “5-100” academic excellence program, got 5 QS stars in 5 categories: education quality, internationalization, infrastructure and social environment; for the first time entered the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR); changed its brand and got a new mission and slogan.

Today RUDN is home to students from 154 countries of the world training future mathematicians, physicists, chemists, agrarians and ecologists, medical doctors, economists, philologists and diplomats, also giving them a chance to get dual degrees with the leading world universities and master a few foreign languages as well as choose a continuing education course.

RUDN Alumni work in more than 17- countries. Among them are presidents and ministers, prominent politicians and successful professionals. In June 2017, diploma number 100,000 will be given symbolizing a new page in the history of the University and in the development of RUDN Alumni Associations.

Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia was founded February 5, 1960, by the decision of the USSR government. February 22, 1961, the University was named after Patrice Lumumba, one of the symbols of African fight for independence. The first graduation in 1965, gave the world 288 young specialists who came from 47 countries. The University was developing extremely fast and already by 1975, around 5,600 specialists had graduated from the University, among them 4,250 specialists for working in 89 foreign countries.  The same year the University was awarded the Order for Peoples’ Friendship. Since February 5, 1992, the University has been called Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia.
