February 6, 2014, the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia turned 54. More than a thousand of guests came to congratulate the University. Representatives of more than 100 countries, graduates of different decades, and various experts came to the assembly hall. The representatives of more than 30 diplomatic missions became guests of honor at a birthday celebration of the University. Professor Vladimir Filippov, the Peoples' Friendship University rector, noted in his welcoming speech that the University has reached high results in the past year, including not only the progress of our students and teachers in the scientific and professional field and the career path of our graduates, but also strengthening of the People's Friendship University’s position in international rankings. For example, in Russia the RUDN University took the 4th -6th places in the CIS countries’ ranking, in the Baltic States and Georgia’ one – the 7th, and entered TOP-500 universities of the world. Famous graduates of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia were congratulating the Alma Mater sharing some cordial memories of their student life. Thus, Vladimir Platonov, the Chairman of the Moscow City Duma (graduate 1983), said that he associates his best years with insomnia and the RUDN University construction team. He expressed his confidence in that with the joint efforts of teachers, students and graduates the People's Friendship University of Russia will become not only one of the best universities of Moscow, but also around the world. The congratulation speech of Jeanne D’Arc Mujawamariya, the Rwanda Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary in Russia, was especially cordial. She recalled her living in the dormitory number 11, the traditional Days of Culture in the University, the complexity of the Russian language, and her first "C" she claims she deserved. Madam Ambassador is a successful politician and a happy mother of three children. And she would like to see every one of them being a student of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. The RUDN University received dozens of congratulations from around the world. The Association of graduates from Jordan congratulated all the guests of the University by a video bridge. Many graduates came with gifts, but the most important one was presented by the current students of the University – an exciting concert with bright colors and sincere emotions. At the end of the ceremonial part Vladimir Filippov invited all the RUDN University’s friends to the 55th anniversary, which will be held exactly in one year (February 6, 2015) in the State Kremlin Palace.
