“Migration issues in the context of world intergration processes”

October 6, RUDN hosted round table “Migration issues in the context of world integration processes” for experts from Austria, Germany and Russia and representatives of education and science foelds, A.Dolzhikova, RUDN Vice-Rector for Continuing education, A.Blinov, expert of the Institute of linguo-civilizational and migration processes, councilor of the Executive Director of “Russky mir” foundation, addressed the meeting.
M.Ilyashevich, associate professor of Department of International law, spoke on research at the laboratory for studying migration processes, which are in the centre of everybody’s attention today. Researchers at the laboratory analyze migration processes in the globalizing world, work out practical and theoretical recommendations and cooperate with scientific circles as well as mass media and governmental structures, ensuring complex adaptation and integration of foreign citizens.
Foreign experts spoke about migration challenges in their countries. The German experts said that Germany is on the second place after the USA in the rate of migration and the migrants’ flow has been growing recently. In 2015, 800,000 migrants from Turkey, Serbia, Croatia, Syria, Kosovo and Bulgaria came to Germany, mostly young males.
The experts stressed that the success of the integration process depends on how actively the migrants will be involved in the industry of the country. They also spoke on migrants’ learning the language, their education and socialization, saying that there is no notion like “temporary migration” because it always turns into permanent.
Students of RUDN Economic faculty, faculty of Philology, Institute of Law and Engineering Academy took an active part in the discussion.
The Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) again has the name of Patrice Lumumba, the first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who has become a symbol of the African peoples’ struggle for independence. This was announced on Thursday by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The new list of federal innovation sites (FIS) of the Russian Federation includes 30 new organizations. Among them is the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. This became possible thanks to the development of the Digital Preparatory Faculty of RUDN University.
RUDN rose to the 26th position in the UI GreenMetric 2022 ranking and confirmed the status of the “greenest” university in Russia. The ranking includes 1,050 world universities, of which 52 are Russian.
