THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFC CONFERENCE “IV NOVIKOVSKIYE PROCEEDINGS: FUNCTIONAL SEMANTICS AND SEMIOTOCS OF SIGN SYSTEMS” ‒ Moscow, RUDN University, October, 28 – 30th, 2014 On October 28 – 30th at the Philological Faculty of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia there was held the International Scientific Conference “IV Novikovskiye Proceedings: Functional Semantics and Semiotics of Sign Systems”, devoted to the memory of the outstanding scientist, Academician of the International Academy of Sciences of the Higher School, Doctor of Philology, Professor Lev Alekseyevich Novikov. The organizer of the conference is the General and Russian Linguistics Department of the PRUF Philological Faculty under the auspices of the Russian Fund of Humanities (RFH grant № 14-04-14026). The work of the conference involved 225 participants including leading philologists and linguists and younger researchers: doctoral students, post-graduate students, candidates for a degree, holders of MA and bachelor degrees of the Russian Federation universities and institutes, from near-abroad countries, as: Belorussia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, and those far-abroad countries, as: Bulgaria, Georgia, Iraq, Iran, Spain, Latvia, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia. The number of conference foreign participants makes up 57 people, and younger ones ‒ post-graduate students, holders of MA and bachelor degrees make up 50 people. On October, 28th, the first day of the conference during the Plenary session Ms O.V. Andreeva, the PRUR Vice Rector responsible for international activity addressed greetings to its participants as well as Mr V.N. Denisenko, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Scientific Conference “IV Novikovskiye Proceedings: Functional Semantics and Semiotics of Sign Systems”; he’s also the Head of the RUDN University General and Russian Linguistics Department.
