Geographic information systems, field mapping and laboratory analysis… Students from Nigeria are the best at the conference in Mendeleev university
The section “Environment and sustainable development” was attended by 2nd — year graduate students of RUDN Institute of Ecology from Nigeria: Nwobi Nelson Onyebuchi and Okeke Solomon Ekene.
They showed their expertise in the report “Integration of Geographic Information System (GIS), Gully Erosion, and Water Quality Data in Promoting Sustainable Practices: A Case Study of Ebenato, Nnewi South, Anambra State, Nigeria”.
Students studied the reasons for the increase in the area of gullies, in their work using geographic information systems for reconnaissance, field mapping and laboratory analysis.
“Our work was in English, and the poster presentation was the best, which brought us an award. It was an amazing experience!” says Nwobi Nelson Onyebuchi (Nigeria), graduate student at the Institute of Ecology.
The geography of participants is represented by organizations from Russia, Belarus, Greece, Italy, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Kenya and Nigeria.

The XV International Scientific and Practical Conference “Education and Science for Sustainable Development” is dedicated to the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development.
Four sections were organized at the conference: “Materials for Energy Production, Conversion and Storage”, “Environment and sustainable development”, “Socio-economic aspects of sustainable development”, “Green chemistry for sustainable development: from fundamental principles to new materials”.
The sections featured two competitions:
- competition of research works of young scientists and students;
- essay contest “Fundamental sciences and sustainable development”.

The new list of federal innovation platforms (FIP) of the Russian Federation includes 30 new organisations. Among them is Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba. This became possible thanks to the development of the Digital Pre-University Faculty of RUDN.
December 15, Minsk hosted the IX International Student Olympiad in Human Anatomy. It was attended by 9 teams from Russia and Belarus. Students of RUDN took two 3rd places in the theoretical and practical rounds.
The VI Firsova Readings conference “Modern languages and cultures: variability, functions, ideologies in the cognitive aspect”, held at the Faculty of Philology brought together speakers from Russia, England, Hungary, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands, working in 9 thematic sessions. The conference featured a workshop, a round table and three seminars in Russian and English.
