Meeting of the National Coordination Committee of the BRICS Network University at RUDN University
During the meeting, the main issues of the activities of the BRICS NU were discussed, and reports were heard from the coordinating universities on priority areas of training:
- power engineering;
- computer science and information security;
- research of BRICS countries;
- ecology and climate change;
- water resources and pollution neutralization;
- economy.
“It is important to develop multilateral interaction within the BRICS framework and joint educational programs, which are a tool for promoting Russian education abroad,” Natalya Syulkova, Deputy Vice-Rector for International Affairs of RUDN University.
Olga Molovtseva, Head of the Department of Multilateral Cooperation and International Organizations of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, noted that in connection with the expected expansion of the BRICS membership in 2024, and the entry of new universities into the BRICS NU from newly joined countries, it will be necessary to conduct a series of consultations and negotiations with new members of the association.
“The BRICS Network University is a tool for promoting the development of intercultural dialogue and mutual enrichment of cultures. In this regard, it is necessary to expand cooperation abroad by organizing educational exhibitions, conducting selection campaigns for education in Russia through quotas,” Anastasia Khokhlova, Acting Head of the Department of Education and Science of Rossotrudnichestvo.
At the meeting, the coordinating universities and co-coordinators of the BRICS NU discussed drafts of important regulatory documents and made adjustments to them: an agreement on joint educational programs, BRICS NU participant certificate, the concept of academic mobility of students and teaching staff.
At the end of the meeting, the coordinating universities NRU MPEI, NRU HSE, ITMO University, Ural Federal University and Tomsk Polytechnic University highlighted the results of the work of the BRICS NU international thematic groups this year.
RUDN Institute of Environmental Engineering is hosting the winners of the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards 2024 state scholarship program for the second time. The participants chose between 126 universities from 23 countries, including the USA, Canada and Australia. 25 best Indonesian students chose Russia and came to Moscow for the first time.
In the morning, the main building is always crowded, students rushing to their first class. Suddenly, there is a large group of smiling young people from Africa, very smartly dressed, wearing scarfs with two logos on them, one — a university logo and the other — an unfamiliar abbreviation JGC.
RUDN University welcomed a delegation of three Municipal Assemblies of the Republic of Ghana - Korle Klottey, La Dade-Kotopon and Ledzokuku. At the meeting the parties discussed the results of the educational school “Solid Waste Management and Circular Economy”, held at the Institute of Ecology of RUDN University this year.
