RUDN and the UAE Ministry of Education are Ready to Cooperate
RUDN University hosted the delegation of the UAE Ministry of Education on the 27th of August. His Excellency Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the UAE Minister of Education, was at the head of the delegation.
Vladimir Filippov, the RUDN Rector, underlined the importance of boosting joint academic and scientific projects between our two countries. He outlined some perspectives for cooperation. Professor Filippov underlined that it was not just about the number of exchange students. The forms of partnership could be ranged from new double degree programs, short courses for professionals, networking associations of the best universities. RUDN subject-classes in UAE, scientific Olympiads and summer schools could also be fruitful initiatives.
“To construct business affairs between UAE and Russia we need graduates who were students in universities of the partner country. There could be many forms to boost academic and research partnership like double degree programs, short courses for professionals or a network association of the best universities. We can also start subject-oriented classes and to hold Olympiads in UAE. RUDN University is ready to open specially designed summer and winter schools.” – Vladimir Filippov, the Rector of the RUDN University.
The UAE Minister of Education Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi expressed willingness to promote cooperation in spheres of Higher Education.
“We are interested in evolving educational cooperation between UAE and Russia. Your country shows prominent success in Math, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Your experience in Social Studies research could also be helpful. We are ready to work out a draft to open subject-oriented classes in UAE. We may consider about launching a special centre for Arabic culture studies here. A summer school is also a good option to bring graduates from UAE high schools to Moscow so they could feel the multicultural atmosphere and to learn languages.” - His Excellency Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the UAE Minister of Education.
The sides reached an agreement to sign a Memorandum of understanding to outline points of joint interest.
RUDN made an excursion across cutting-edge laboratories of the university to the delegates of the UAE Ministry of education. Experts from the Institute of Innovative Engineering Technologies shared their experience in solution tasks for such industries like oil and gas drilling, mining, aviation, civil construction and even medicine. Machines and tools for 3D printing, seismic exploration, laser welding and cutting were shown. Biochemists described the process of preclinical research of medicines at laboratories at the RUDN Common Use Center (Research and Educational Center).
Last week, RUDN University welcomed a delegation led by Gao Song, President of Peking University. The visit marked his first international trip since assuming office as the rector of the university, which ranks 13th globally.
In RUDN’s main building, Russian speech has mixed with Arabic and strict business suits with national attire. The reason for this is the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The university hosted a large-scale event “The Century of Friendship, Cultural and Scientific Exchange between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Russian Federation”, which brought together diplomats, scientists, rectors of leading universities, and students.
RUDN University delegation, led by the university's president Vladimir Filippov, paid an important official visit to China. The central events of the business visit were signing of a memorandum on the establishment of an International Scientific Center for Mathematics within the framework of the SCO University and awarding the title of Honorary Professor of Xi'an Jiaotong University to Vladimir Filippov. RUDN University also presented its educational potential at a world-class University Forum and a specialized exhibition.
