The delegation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar visits RUDN University

Union Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw and Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun visited RUDN on the delegation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The parties discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation in the field of technical areas and talked with students from Myanmar about their academic progress.

Citizens of Myanmar have been studying in RUDN University since 1965. Today, there are 10 Burmese, among them are future professionals in the fields of tourism, linguistics and politics.

The guests from Myanmar were welcomed by RUDN student fraternities from different countries in bright national costumes in the hall of the main building.

Larisa Efremova, RUDN Vice-Rector for International Affairs, opened the official part of the meeting, speaking about the university’s intention to continue cooperation with universities in Myanmar and increase the number of Burmese applicants in new majors.

“The University of Yangon is to sign the agreement and we are looking forward to our next visit to Myanmar, foreseeing our partnership. Our university plans to expand cooperation with technical universities. In the future, we are considering the possibility of opening a representative office of RUDN University in Myanmar,” Larisa Efremova, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of RUDN University.

The Union Minister of Science and Technology of Myanmar expressed his desire to sign the future agreement and hope for continued cooperation with the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia and an increase in the flow of students from Myanmar. The Minister supported the idea of developing medical and technical areas.

“RUDN University is unique. Only here students from different countries can explore the world together. I hope we it won’t take us long to sign a cooperation agreement. Particular emphasis remains on medical and technical majors, and I personally support these areas,” Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw, Union Minister for Science and Technology of Myanmar.

All in all, RUDN University has trained 28 specialists for Myanmar. Among them are professionals in the fields of engineering, medicine, economics, agronomy, law and humanities.

Members of the delegation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar talked with Burmese students.

"In my master’s program, I studied the features of domestic tourism in Myanmar. But my dream is to open a chain of restaurants in Russia. Now I am studying business in continuing professional education courses at RUDN University. “Postgraduate studies and new heights are ahead,” Sai Naing Naing Tun, student of RUDN Further Professional Education course, graduate of the Master’s program at the Institute of Hotel Business and Tourism.

At the end of the official part, guests and representatives of RUDN University exchanged gifts. The delegation presented Vice-Rector Larisa Efremova with Myanmar national souvenirs, while the guests received RUDN branded gifts. The delegation also visited the Multiservice Center, library and co-working space. Following RUDN tradition, Dr, Myo Thein Kyaw rubbed the nose of the Learned Cat for good luck.

RUDN University and Ghana: Common Strategy for Education-Business-Science

RUDN University is to train 100 specialists in Agronomy and Ecology for Ghana at the request of its industrial partner, the Jospong Group, which unites 60 companies. The number of trained personnel will amount to over 600 within 5 years. The fields of study which are of interest to the partner include Agronomy, Information Technology, Applied Nature Management, Ecology. The company is ready to pay for travel, accommodation and scholarships for these students. RUDN University will accept students within preferential rights.

“This trip would be incomplete without visiting the university”: on the visit of the delegation of the Republic of The Gambia to RUDN University

The delegation of the Republic of The Gambia led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mamadou Tangara visited the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. Members of the delegation met with Rector Oleg Yastrebov and the staff of the Agricultural and Technological Institute of RUDN University, went on a tour of biotechnological laboratories and a laboratory for studying soils chemical composition and properties.
