“The education received in Russia helped me realize my potential in the professional field”: RUDN University and Rosatom hold Alumni meeting in Myanmar
Myo Thein Kyaw, Minister of Science and Technology of the Republic of Myanmar, drew attention to the high level of training of Myanmar specialists in nuclear and related areas of study in Russian universities. His opinion was shared by Jalil Alamgir, Chairman of the Council of the Association of Alumni and Friends of RUDN, President of the Association of Alumni, Students and Friends of Russia from Bangladesh:
“The education received in Russia helped me realize my potential in the professional field. I urge graduates not to forget their University, not to lose touch with it, and to participate in its eventful life. It was Alma Mater that opened up new life horizons for you. Students from different countries have an excellent opportunity not only to receive a quality education, but also to get to know the real Russia, make new friends, and contribute to the development of friendship between countries,” Jalil Alamgir, RUDN graduate from Bangladesh.
RUDN University has 16 students from Myanmar studying in the following areas: “Tourism”, “Management”, “International Relations”, “Philology”, “Theoretical, Applied and Comparative Linguistics”, “Political Institutions, Processes, Technologies”. Thanks to such meetings, there will be more RUDN students from this country.
“The meeting showed a close connection between two generations: university graduates and future students who will come to Russia in September 2023 to study at Russian universities. We are waiting for first-year students from Myanmar,” Larisa Efremova, RUDN Vice-Rector for International Affairs.
Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector for International Relations of the National Research University Moscow Energy Institute (NRU MPEI), noted that since 1965, NRU MPEI has trained more than 600 specialists from Myanmar, including one Doctor of Science and 26 PhD’s. At the Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman since 2021, 1,371 citizens of Myanmar have completed their studies, of which 26 people successfully defended their PhD dissertations. The National Research Nuclear University “Moscow Engineering Physics Institute” (NRNU “MEPhI”) presented not only the university’s experience in training branch specialists, but also the “Global Alumni Network” project, implemented with the aim of uniting university graduates from different countries and providing opportunities for their participation in the life of the university after returning home.

- Andrey Yunak, Advisor to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar;
- Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector for International Relations of the National Research University “MPEI”;
- Konstantin Yakovlev, Head of the Department of marketing of educational services, academic mobility and international scientific programs of Bauman University;
- Alexander Ivannikov, head of international scientific and educational projects at NUST MISIS;
- Dmitry Savkin, Vice-Rector for International Activities of National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI”;
- Marina Stupnikova, Director for work with partners and alumni of National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI”.
RUDN Institute of Environmental Engineering is hosting the winners of the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards 2024 state scholarship program for the second time. The participants chose between 126 universities from 23 countries, including the USA, Canada and Australia. 25 best Indonesian students chose Russia and came to Moscow for the first time.
In the morning, the main building is always crowded, students rushing to their first class. Suddenly, there is a large group of smiling young people from Africa, very smartly dressed, wearing scarfs with two logos on them, one — a university logo and the other — an unfamiliar abbreviation JGC.
RUDN University welcomed a delegation of three Municipal Assemblies of the Republic of Ghana - Korle Klottey, La Dade-Kotopon and Ledzokuku. At the meeting the parties discussed the results of the educational school “Solid Waste Management and Circular Economy”, held at the Institute of Ecology of RUDN University this year.
