Full virtual immersion as a step towards seamless intercultural communication. QS Subject Focus Summit "Languages and Migration in a Globalized World" launched at RUDN

On December 15, 2020, at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, the first-ever QS International Rating Agency subject summit in the fields of “Modern Languages” and “Linguistics” was launched. Its theme is “Languages and Migration in a Globalized World”.

During the opening ceremony Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Valery Falkov welcomed the participants of the Summit:

“The significance of this event is hard to overestimate, it is unprecedented. The Summit corresponds to the world tendencies which aim at integration of education and science, and national development goals which foresee the inclusion of the Russian Federation in the top ten countries of the world by the volume of scientific researches and developments by 2030”.

Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Petr Kucherenko, President of PFUR Vladimir Filippov, Rector of RUDN Oleg Yastrebov, as well as the founder and CEO of QS Rating Agency Nunzio Quacquarelli addressed the Summit with a welcoming speech.

Challenging time. A new format summit

QS Subject Focus Summit at RUDN is a scientific and technical event of a new format. A modern online platform has been developed specifically for the Summit, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the virtual space of the university. It provides an opportunity to (1) communicate with all participants of the Summit, (2) visit the thematic exhibition space, (3) hold negotiations, (4) view printed, audio and video materials, and, most importantly, (5) move between the three parallel tracks. The organizing team managed to gather the world’s key experts in the fields of languages, linguistics, and migration into one event. Speakers answer questions posed by the audience in real time, and all Summit materials are available to participants for another month.

The Summit is organized by Institute of Modern Languages, Intercultural Communication and Migration of RUDN, established in 2018 to focus on strengthening the University’s position in the subject areas of Modern Languages and Linguistics.

The RUDN brand recognition as the leading research university in the field of Linguistics and Modern Languages is growing every year. Today our university serves as a global platform for sharing experiences. The RUDN team hopes that the Summit will give new impetus to international scientific cooperation in the field of Modern Languages and Linguistics.

In 2017, RUDN University scientists constructed a new explicit second-order precision difference scheme using modern computer algebra methods for 2-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations (NSE) [1]. This year, our mathematicians used a new scheme [2] to construct a numerical solution to the Cauchy problem with initial data (for t=0) as satisfying the continuity equation. Scientists managed to achieve previously unattainable accuracy of the continuity equation.
