The Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) awarded the “For the Good of Russia” badge of honor to RUDN scientists: Samvel Apresyan, Doctor of Medicine, professor at the Medical Institute and Alexander Stepanov, Doctor of Medicine, professor, Head of the Stomatology Department at the Faculty of Continuing Medical Education of RUDN.
The awarding took place in he celebration of the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the All-Russian Society of Inventors and Rationalizers (VOIR).
Both RUDN professors of the Medical Institute are leading scientists in the field of digital dentistry. Samvel Apresyan is a winner of the Youth Award VOIR 2021, a winner of 4 gold medals at the International exhibitions of inventions, author and co-author of 25 inventions. Alexander Stepanov is a winner of 4 gold and 2 silver medals for inventions at the International Innovation Forums, author and co-author of 98 inventions.
“A patent is an integral part of scientific activity. Today, many patents have been obtained by our RUDN co-authors. This shows that the researchers of the University continue to successfully develop science and bring it to the forefront of innovation,” — said Samvel Apresyan and Alexander Stepanov.
Being a scientist means creating a better future for the country and the world! RUDN scientists set ambitious goals for themselves, conduct advanced scientific research, make discoveries and bring Russian technologies to foreign markets. They have at their disposal more than 200 laboratories with modern high—tech equipment. Every year, RUDN holds more than 150 international scientific events, and university scientists patent about 100 new developments. Advances in research — from new cancer treatments to “cleaning up” space debris — are designed to improve human life.
At the suggestion of the Royal Society, for the first time in history, scientists of a Russian university — from the Institute of Gravitation and Cosmology of RUDN, Professors Spiros Cotsakis (Greece) and Alexander P. Yefremov (Russia) — were invited as responsible editors and authors of a special thematic issue “The Future of Mathematical Cosmology” of the scientific journal Philosophical Transactions (series A, quartile Q1).
Research teams and competent experts are behind the advancement in rankings and growth of scientometric indicators. In 2015, RUDN embarked on a path of forming a research university: a research culture began to take shape and the approach to the process of preparing publications changed. To support the new internationally-oriented model of publication activity management, the development roadmap was created together with Elsevier.
