Geoecology from Algeria to Tajikistan. Institute of Environmental Engineering gave the floor to young researchers from 22 organisations

The Department of Environmental Management of RUDN Institute of Environmental Engineering hosted the student conference "Geoecology: Theory and Practice". More than 260 young scientists presented the results of their research. The geography of participants comprised 22 organisations from Russia, Algeria, Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Egypt, Tajikistan.

The participants shared their research experience in various areas of geoecology, urban ecology, systems ecology, renewable energy sources, adaptation to climate change, and others.

"It's important to let students do environmental research. Young scientists now have many opportunities to promote modern science. I am glad that Peoples' Friendship University of Russia provides a platform to present the results of students' work", Elena Savenkova, Doctor of Economics, Director of the Institute of Environmental Engineering, RUDN.

The conference summarised the results of the competition of research works. The winners were:

I place

Anna Ritter - Transformation of landscapes of Voronezh.

Ekaterina Kalinichenko, Margarita Ratnikova - Formation of public spaces in industrial areas: the factory "BOGEMIA" in Velikiy Novgorod.

II place

Alexey Shipovalov - Synanthropic species of mycobiota on the example of the city of Cherepovets.

Rita Ishkina, Alisa Vyaznikova - Vegetation of the foot of the Sarakum sand massif, Dagestan.

III place

Alina Pushkova, Denis Utkin, Ekaterina Mosolova, Dmitry Golubev - Sanitary and microbiological analysis of surface water in places where mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) congregate in Saratov.

In 2017, RUDN University scientists constructed a new explicit second-order precision difference scheme using modern computer algebra methods for 2-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations (NSE) [1]. This year, our mathematicians used a new scheme [2] to construct a numerical solution to the Cauchy problem with initial data (for t=0) as satisfying the continuity equation. Scientists managed to achieve previously unattainable accuracy of the continuity equation.
