1977

In 1977 Davydov V.V. graduated from the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba (now the RUDN University), Chemistry department.

1980

In 1980 he graduated from the postgraduate course of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, the Faculty of Science (Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Natural Sciences) of graduated from the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba( now the RUDN University), Chemistry department.

1981

In 1981 he defended his thesis for Ph.D. degree on "Synthesis and structure of complex compounds of benz-2,1,3-thiadiazole with salts of some metals" and was awarded the Ph.D. degree in Chemistry.

1986

In 1986 Davydov V.V. was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in the Department of General Chemistry.

1995

In 1995 he was awarded the Doctor of Science in Chemistry degree. The topic of doctoral dissertation is "Metal complexes of biologically active derivatives of dihydroisoquinoline, quinoline and certain azoles. Synthesis, structure and properties".

1997

1997 till present — he is the Head of the General Chemistry Department, the Faculty of Science (Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Natural Sciences) of Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (the RUDN University).

1998-2013

1998-2013 Davydov V.V. was the Dean of the Faculty of Science (Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Natural Sciences).

2014-2017

2014-2017 — the Head of the Educational Policy Department of the RUDN University.

Research

  • Davydov V.V. is a specialist in the field of coordination compounds chemistry of metals with complex polyfunctional organic ligands.
  • The field of scientific interests is synthesis, the study of the structure and physico-chemical properties of complex salts, containing transition and non-transition metals with biological active polyfunctional heterocyclic ligands.

  • A gold medal of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Armenia;
  • Honorary Worker of Science and Technology of the Russian Federation;
  • Participant in the liquidation of the Chernobyl disaster consequences.

Research interests

  • Synthesis and establishment of regularities in the formation, electronic and molecular structure of coordination compounds of metal salts with polyfunctional heterocyclic ligands with pharmacological and pesticidal activity
  • About 150 new, previously unknown substances, have been synthesized for the first time. Their structure and properties were studied by using the most modern research methods. Some of them have been proposed for further research to be used as biologically active preparations and materials for molecular electronics

The purpose of this study was a comparative investigation of activity of aldehyde scavenger enzymes in mitochondrial fraction of a thigh muscle in intact and immobilized rats of different ages. It has been shown that 12-month-old (adult) rats have high basal levels of aldehyde dehydrogenase, aldehyde reductase and glutathione transferase activity in mitochondrial fraction of thigh muscle. Aldehyde dehydrogenase activity increases during immobilization stress in adult rats. This change promote to enhance the effectiveness of utilization of carbonyl products of free radical oxidation in mitochondria of skeletal muscle of 12-month-old rats during stress. Immobilization of old and pubertal rats is accompanied by metabolic preconditions leading to accumulation of endogenous aldehydes in mitochondria, and, as a result, to the injury of muscular fibers and intensification of sarcopenia manifestations.
The aldo-keto reductase spectrum of the blood was studied at different stages of ontogenesis to determine the role of the recovery path in utilization of the carbonyl products of free radical oxidation in modulation of organism sensitivity to the stress damaging effects in ontogenesis. The studies revealed the age-specific changes in aldo-keto reductase spectrum in the blood. An analogy of the aldo-keto reductase spectrum structure in animals of early maturity and in old rats was found. The appearance of age specificity of the aldo-keto reductase spectrum in the blood creates metabolic prerequisites for changes in the efficiency of utilization of carbonyl products of free radical oxidation via their reductive transformation.
