On November 21 and 22, 2019, the Second International Scientific Conference “Urbanization and Regional Development in Russia and Europe” was held at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia and the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The purpose of the conference was to discuss the relationship between urbanization and regional development in Russia and countries of Western, Central and Eastern Europe. The main attention was paid to key factors, driving forces and trends of regional development, as well as the processes of socio-economic transformation of urban spaces and urbanized areas in Russia and foreign Europe. The Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences is a current base for the practical training of students studying in the field of "Ecology and Nature Management".
The Institute was founded in 1934 by Academician Alexei Nikolayevich Severtsov, who was its first director. In 1936, the Institute was divided into two institutes: The Paleontological Institute and A.N. Severtsov’s Institute of Evolutionary Morphology (IEM). Now the Institute is headed by Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vyacheslav Rozhnov. The Institute studies the problems of the general and special ecology of animals, biodiversity, behavior and evolutionary morphology of animals, and develop recommendations for nature conservation.
In 1999, the Institute of Ecology and Evolution Problems of the Academy of Sciences (IPEE RAS), in collaboration with the Central Clinical Hospital of the Academy of Sciences (CCH RAS) and the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), developed a methodology for conducting psychological rehabilitation sessions for residents of large cities through the use of rehabilitation sound media in order to fill the deficit of natural sounds. The sessions are held by employees of IPEE RAS, Central Design Bureau of RAS, and RUDN University, of which three are doctors of biological sciences. Practical training of RUDN Ecological Faculty students is regularly held on the base of IPEE RAS.
The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) was established by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated September 20, 2010 No. 1140 by joining the Academy of National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation (ANH, year of foundation - 1977) of the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation (RAGS, year of foundation - 1991), as well as 12 other federal state educational institutions.
Among other joint programs of the RANEPA and RUDN University, on July 9, 2019, the Center for Continuing Professional Education of the Institute of Public Administration and Management (ISSU) of the RANEPA conducted training for the personnel reserve and senior staff of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia under the continuing education program “GR-management (interaction with public authorities)". The key topics of the program were the following: system of government decision-making; promoting the interests of the organization in government bodies; building GR communications; legal basis for the interaction of business and government; lobbying in government as GR technology; innovative technologies for the interaction of business and government; personal performance management in business and politics.
