A petroleum engineer is involved in almost all stages of the evaluation, development, operation of an oil and gas field, transportation and processing of produced oil. His professional goal is to most effectively conduct the development of oil and gas fields, transport and process hydrocarbons and solve any production issues.
A petroleum engineer can be engaged in the development and implementation of methods for enhancing oil recovery during the operation of inefficient or old wells, designing and supporting the construction of hydrocarbon transportation and storage systems, and improving oil refining technology.
A variety of professional activities in the oil and gas business allows a graduate to find a job that meets their interests and expectations.

Educational Process

The educational process is organized in such a way as to most effectively form the skills and abilities based on the theoretical knowledge gained. As part of the program, students are invited to study a wide range of disciplines: “Development of oil and gas fields”, “Technology of operation of oil and gas wells”, “Physics of the oil and gas reservoir, drilling of oil and gas wells”, “Machinery and equipment of the oil and gas complex” , “Modern methods for the development of oil and gas fields in difficult conditions”, “Methods of enhanced oil recovery and well productivity management”, etc.
Skills and abilities in the professional field of oil and gas business are formed in laboratory and seminar classes, in the course of educational and industrial practices using active and interactive teaching methods. In-depth formation of professional skills is carried out by choosing an individual educational trajectory: “Development of oil and gas fields”, “Design and operation of gas and oil pipelines”, “Technology and products of oil, gas and gas condensate processing”.
Lectures are given by leading scientists of Russia, including RUDN University graduates.
Students study a foreign language in the field of professional communication.

Geological, fact-finding, technological and undergraduate practice and research work are held at educational, in laboratories of the Department of Subsoil Use and Oil and Gas Business of the Engineering Academy of RUDN University (Moscow), Oil and Gas Production Department “Leninogorskneft” “Tatneft” (Republic of Tatarstan, Leninogorsk), LLC “Gazprom invest” — “Gazprom gazifikatsiya” (St. Petersburg), LLC “Gazprom transgaz Moscow” (Moscow), JSC “Gazpromneft — Moscow Oil Refinery” (Moscow), Academy of Sciences (Moscow), oil and gas companies in Russia, CIS countries and far abroad.
If the student shows their worth during the internship, then he or she has the possibility of further employment in these companies.
