Oil and gas occur in a wide variety of geological conditions and physical states. A petroleum engineer is faced with the task of extracting these valuable resources from the bowels of the Earth, using modern technological solutions, transporting oil, oil products and gas to consumers, as well as obtaining valuable products from oil and gas raw materials that meet modern requirements for operational and environmental characteristics.
The program is focused on the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of fuel energy, including the development of deposits, transport, storage and processing of hydrocarbons.
The professional goal is to most effectively conduct the extraction, transportation and processing of hydrocarbons and solve any production issues.
The main objectives of the training are related to the development and implementation of enhanced oil recovery methods, the design and operation of gas and oil pipelines, quality control of gas, gas condensate and products of their processing.

Educational Process

Master’s students study the general scientific cycle of disciplines, as well as special professional disciplines that provide for an in-depth study of the processes of field development, transportation and processing of oil and gas. An individual learning path provides for a choice of specialized courses, which allows you to master narrow specialties, while gaining knowledge in related fields.
In the process of preparation, students communicate with the heads of specialized enterprises in the framework of scientific and methodological seminars, workshops and internships.
As a result of mastering the program, students can apply modern methods of intensifying oil production, taking into account the specifics of developing oil fields with hard-to-recover reserves, justify the choice of technologies and techniques for oil production in difficult conditions, carry out design and technological calculations for the transportation of gas and low-viscosity oils, sequential pumping of oil products, and also solve topical issues of oil processing.


Agreements with oil and gas and oilfield services companies — leaders in the oil and gas industry — open up opportunities for students to develop competencies in the development of a wide range of real research and production projects during research, production, technological and pre-diploma practice.
Currently, good cooperation has been established with enterprises — potential employers for graduates. Students gain practical skills by participating in real projects of the “Novomet” Group of Companies, “TRIOL” Corporation, “Rustmash”, “Tatneft”, “Russneft”, “Zarubezhneft”, as well as the Kazakhstani enterprise “Reservoir Surveillance Services”.


Graduates of the program can further develop a career in one of the following areas:
— continuing education and conducting research work in postgraduate school with further defense of a candidate's dissertation;
— employment in leading Russian and foreign oil and gas companies: (“Lukoil”, “Rosneft”, “Gazprom”, “Tatneft”, “Zarubezhneft”, National Company “KazMunayGas”, “Shell”, “ExxonMobil”, etc.) ;
