Profession
The industry of nanosystems and materials is one of the priority areas for the development of science, technology and engineering in the Russian Federation, as well as throughout the world. Nanotechnology is a way to create nanoscale structures that give materials and devices special properties that work with individual atoms and molecules. Nanotechnologies are present in all areas of human activity: instrument making, mechanical engineering, space technology, food industry, medicine, pharmaceuticals, construction, agriculture, biology, cybernetics, electronics, ecology, construction, auto and aircraft manufacturing. The profession of an engineer in the field of nanotechnology is associated with:
— production and research of materials and components of nano- and microsystem technology, the processes occurring in them;
— development of nanodiagnostics methods;
— designing instruments and devices based on nanostructures;
— the study of physical-mathematical and physical-chemical models of the processes of synthesis, diagnostics and functioning of materials and components of nano- and microsystem technology;
— creating algorithms for solving research and production problems related to the professional field.
Educational Process
This program is a double degree program. The first year students study at RUDN, the second year — at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Almaty, Kazakhstan).
Classes are held using multimedia technologies in the format of webinars, teleconferences. In the process of learning, students carry out interdisciplinary projects, undergo internships and internships in industrial companies, research centers in Russia and Kazakhstan.
The acquired knowledge is consolidated and implemented in professional activities during the implementation of course projects, practices and the completion of final qualifying work.
The educational process is aimed at developing a wide range of knowledge and competencies among masters in diagnostics, measurements, testing and modeling of nano- and micro-sized systems. Systemic fundamental training in physics, chemistry, mechanics, electronics, together with mathematical training, is aimed at a comprehensive understanding of the processes occurring in objects that include nanostructures.
Students study such disciplines as “Physical Foundations of Nanotechnologies”, “Introduction to Micro- and Nanoelectromechanical Systems”, “Quantum Mechanics in Nanosystems”, “Additive Technologies”, “Fundamentals of Quantum Theory of Radiation”, “Materials of Nanostructural Installations”, “Metrology in quantum electronics”, “Reliability of nanoelectronic and microsystem technology devices”, “Structure and chemical properties of nanoparticles”, “Synthesis of composite materials by electrospinning”, “Carbon nanostructured materials based on vegetable raw materials”, etc.
Practice
Students are given the opportunity to undergo production and technological practices at the experimental, measuring and technological base of centers in the field of nanotechnology in Russia (Moscow) and Kazakhstan (Almaty).
Educational practices and research work of students take place in the educational and scientific laboratories of the department equipped with modern equipment and software, as well as on the experimental, measuring and technological base of research centers in the field of nanoindustry at the industrial enterprises “Shvabe”, NII “Polyus” named after M.F. Stelmakh, NII NPO “LUCH”, “Niagara”, etc.
Students conduct scientific research in the fields of micro- and nanoelectronics, nanomaterials science, nanochemistry.
Students participate in Russian and international scientific conferences and forums, attend trainings on relevant topics.
Career
As a result of mastering the program of two diplomas, graduates will be able to:
— engage in fundamental and applied interdisciplinary research in the fields of physics, chemistry, mathematics and electronics;
— develop methods for conducting research and measuring the parameters and characteristics of nanotechnology products and microsystem technology;
— develop physical and mathematical models of nanostructures;
— perform computer simulation of the investigated physical processes in the field of nanotechnology and microsystem technology;
— perform diagnostics of materials and components of nano- and microsystem technology;
— conduct research on materials at the molecular and atomic level;
— create materials, objects and systems with a given atomic structure.
The specialty allows you to work in manufacturing companies, in research centers around the world: in “Shvabe”, NII ”Polus” named after M.F. Stelmakh (part of the holding of the State Corporation Rostec), Research Institute NPO “LUCH” (part of the scientific division of the State Corporation Rosatom), “Center for Convergent Nano, Bio, Information and Cognitive Sciences and Technologies” of the Kurchatov Institute, “Angstrem”, “Nanotestconsult”, “New Plasma Technologies”, “Niagara”, etc.
