Profession

The professional activities of master students trained in “Fundamental Informatics and Information Technologies” and specialized in “Infocommunication Management and Intelligent Systems” include research work in the areas of development and analysis of models of infocommunication systems, artificial intelligence systems, as well as production and technological work on the development, quality assessment, reliability and efficiency of the developed information systems.
Graduates who have completed this master’s program can work as researchers at leading scientific institutions in the field of design and development of mathematical and simulation models of infocommunication systems and networks, as well as information system specialists in IT departments of state corporations and private companies.

Educational Process

During the study process students work on IT strategies for the development and improvement of the efficiency of corporate infocommunication systems, solving theoretical and applied problems by using mathematical methods and information technologies.
The course provides for the acquisition of knowledge by students in the most important sections of fundamental informatics and information technology through mastering the following subjects: “Architecture and methodologies for assessing the characteristics of next-generation communication networks”, “Theoretical foundations and standards of distributed object technologies”, “Object databases”, “Mathematical foundations of protection information and information security”, “Algorithmic foundations of multimedia technologies”, “Object-oriented CASE-technologies”, “Parallel and distributed programming”, “Design of interactive systems”, “Intelligent dynamic systems”, “Modern concepts of infocommunication management”, “Formal languages for modeling the processes in infocommunication companies’ activities”; “Mathematical Models and Research Methods in Mathematical Theory of Teletraffic”.
An obligatory component of the master studies course is active research teamwork supervised by the leading experts, including research on the development of mathematical, algorithmic, managerial solutions in the field of infocommunications and the development of intelligent systems. Students are invited to scientific events (seminars, conferences, youth schools, lectures), and are involved into scientific projects as research team members.
All the educational activities and scientific research are carried out in multimedia classrooms and scientific and educational laboratories and centers of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Telecommunications of the RUDN University, as well as in computer classrooms equipped with modern facilities and software for initiative developments and conducting computational experiments.

Practice

The course includes academic internship to develop practical skills and their integration with theoretical knowledge, research work and undergraduate vocational placement.
Academic and research internships are carried out at the computer center of the Office of Information Technology Support, Low Current and Telecommunication Systems of the RUDN University, and at the scientific and educational laboratory “Infocommunication Management” of the Department of Applied Informatics and Probability Theory, as well as the scientific centers and laboratories of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Telecommunications of the RUDN University.
Undergraduate placement is carried out in accordance with cooperation agreements on the basis of the Federal Research Center “Computer Science and Management” of the Russian Academy of Sciences, LLC “Technologies of System Analysis” and CJSC “RosInternet Technologies”.
Every year students have the opportunity to take part in master classes by leading experts and representatives of employers in the real sectors of economy, Russian and foreign scientists from leading universities and research centers, as well as in academic mobility programs in accordance with cooperation agreements with foreign scientific organizations, in particular Tampere University, Brno University of Technology, Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria, University of Pisa, University of Lisbon, King's College London, University of Granada, KTH Royal Institute of Technology.

Career

Those who have chosen a career as a specialist in fundamental informatics and information technology are engaged in theoretical and practical research on mathematical and computer modeling of complex technical and information systems, problems of developing software for processing large amounts of data, and solving problems of developing strategic management decisions in the field of infocommunications and intelligent systems.
Possible jobs: researcher, information system specialist, IT project manager, software development manager, system analyst, system programmer.
Possible employers: domestic and foreign universities, world-class research centers, analytical and IT departments of state corporations and IT companies.
