Training of managerial personnel in the media sector has become very popular in recent years. That is why, in addition to acquiring professional journalistic skills, it is very important to have knowledge in the field of forecasting, modeling and media design. The task of an effective manager in the field of mass communication is to understand how to manage information, to know how to organize the work of a creative team, to effectively use the methods of promoting and positioning the media in the media market.
Educational Process
Most of the studied disciplines are aimed at developing not only the theoretical knowledge base of the student, but also the creative potential of the future specialist, so some of the classes are interactive. Thanks to the modular system of education, students can choose some of the subjects that meet their personal professional interests.
The main disciplines of the curriculum: “Media economics”, “Marketing in the media”, “Management in the media”, “Media planning”, “Intercultural communication”, “PR consulting”, “Psychology of management”, “New media”, “Sociology of the media”.
In addition to staff academics, part of the disciplines is taught by invited practitioners: representatives of leading media, advertising and PR agencies, heads of various departments of companies.
Practice
Students participate in professional awards and competitions, and regularly become winners of the “Crystal Arrow” contest.
The base for practice is RUDN TV, where there is an opportunity to manage the creation of their own television projects, leading Russian and international media holdings. Often successful students are hired after completing an internship.
Career
Mass media (newspapers, magazines, television, radio broadcasting, news agencies, Internet portals), publishing houses, press services, advertising and public relations agencies can be considered as potential employment opportunities.
RUDN University graduates are in demand on the labor market and easily find jobs in Russian and foreign media: RIA Novosti, Channel One, Public Television of Russia, TV Center, Voice of Russia, Russia Today, VGTRK, etc.
