In the context of globalization and digitalization of the modern information space, journalists are supposed to be aware of all the events taking place in various parts of the world and give a quick response. The “Global and Digital Media” program teaches not only the basic skills of a modern journalist and digital literacy but also the ability to apply the acquired knowledge in the regional, national and global media market.
Upon graduation, students will know all the features of the global digital media space:
— Journalism in a global context;
— National media systems;
— Media industries in various regions of the world;
— Traditional and digital media;
— Trends and dynamics of changes in the information market.
Educational Process
The theoretical part of the program “Global and Digital Media” is based on disciplines on basic journalistic concepts and communicative phenomena, revealing the features of various areas of the media industry:
— Modern issues and agenda;
— Modern media systems;
— Media planning.
Special attention in the program is given to practical exercises, creative and project sessions on:
— Copywriting;
— Broadcasting;
— Creation of audiovisual online content;
— Multimedia storytelling;
— Mobile journalism and work in social media;
— Photojournalism;
— Media Economics;
— Working with big data, their visualization and infographics.
Building a successful career not only in journalism, but also in related areas of activity will help study additional interdisciplinary and communication modules:
— PR;
— Intercultural communication;
— Psychology of management;
— Territory branding and international relations.
The training program undergoes an annual internal audit in order to meet all the trends of the rapidly changing information market.
The development of professional experience is facilitated by regular lectures by visiting professors from universities in Europe, Asia, the USA and foreign journalists who have been closely cooperating and implementing joint creative and scientific projects with program participants for many years.
All classes are conducted in English with the involvement of leading foreign scientists, which will become one of the competitive advantages of the program graduate in the labor market.
Practice
As all classes are held in English, students have the opportunity to participate in various mobility programs with partner universities. Personal contact with representatives of top foreign universities not only increases the level of personal development and broadens horizons, but also guarantees students the availability of personal professional and international contacts in the future.
In addition to TV and radio studio's professional technical resources, which are provided for by the curriculum, students have additional opportunity to undergo professional internships in Russian and international media holdings.
