Profession
Data journalism is a profession of the future that in the long term will allow you to become a sought-after and highly paid specialist in the labor market. The task of a data journalist is to find, analyze and turn large amounts of data into an understandable and beautifully visualized product, to tell real “stories” using a large amount of data. “Data journalism” is an interdisciplinary master’s program that trains highly qualified journalists good at modern IT and analytical tools.
Educational Process
The training program is aimed both at developing the theoretical knowledge base and the creative potential of students in terms of classical journalistic education, and at the formation of unique skills and abilities that characterize the new generation of journalists — specialists in the field of big data.
In addition to basic disciplines such as “Media Economics”, “Marketing in the Media”, “Management in the Media”, “Media Planning”, “Sociology of the Media”, students learn to search and analyze different types of data; visualize and understand the features of content built on data; work with artificial intelligence and open data; learn the basics of programming.
Practice
Students can practice in their own laboratories and multimedia studios of the faculty, as well as in leading Russian and international media holdings. Upon graduation, each student will have a portfolio with their own creative multimedia projects and investigative journalism based on Big Data.
Career
Today, the niche of specialists who can analyze and work with big data in the field of media and communications is practically free, so program graduates will be in demand in modern digital media and special projects, as well as in the field of PR and Product management.
