A practical psychologist is a rapidly developing and highly demanded type of professional activity. There is a growing demand all over the world for specialists capable of solving a variety of tasks of psychological assistance and support in many areas of life. Mastering practical psychology integrative technologies will give graduates an extensive toolkit for professional activities, will allow them to master the most common techniques and learn to choose and use them adequately in accordance with the tasks solved. Training will provide the necessary professional competences, ways of creative activity associated with the successful work of a modern practicing psychologist, teach students to solve specific practical problems in conditions of global competition.

Educational Process

The program is aimed at developing professional competences, practical skills and abilities that ensure the success of the professional activities of a modern practicing psychologist. The training system is based on constructive interaction and individual communication with each student. Right from the start there is an intense immersion in the world of psychological practice.
The curriculum of the master’s program includes disciplines aimed at mastering the principles and methods of practical psychology in the fields of education, healthcare, sports, culture, social assistance, jurisprudence, as well as in organizations and enterprises of various industries. Much attention is paid to the theory and practice of psychological counseling, psychotherapy, the development and conduct of psychological training.
An important part is occupied by research activities. Students participate in scientific research of the department aimed at solving urgent problems of personality psychology and human interaction with their social environment, as well as improving the methods of psychological assistance.
Separate sections of the program are devoted to solving specific practical problems in the context of global competition. The basis of the master’s program “Integrative Technologies in Practical Psychology” includes modern technologies of psychodiagnostics, psycho-consultation, psychotherapy and psycho-correction. The content of professional training of a practicing psychologist is focused on mastering the main areas of modern psychological practices, including health-saving technologies, business consulting, coaching, Gestalt therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodrama, personality self-realization training, parent-child interaction training, etc.

Practice

Students regularly participate in master classes of leading practicing psychologists, and they can also independently act as trainers, draw up psychodiagnostic conclusions and recommendations for working in counseling activities.
As part of their practice, students work as psychologists in various organizations. During teaching practice, they act as professors of higher education and in the future they have the opportunity to teach psychology. Research practice helps to implement scientific projects, substantiate practical significance of the research, etc. Students practice in specialized centers: the Center for Social Assistance to Families and Children “Doverie”, the Center for Social Assistance to Families and Children “Helios”, the Center for Emergency Psychological Assistance of the MSUPE (“Children's Helpline”), the Institute for Personal Development “Integration”.

Career

Graduate masters of the program “Integrative Technologies in Practical Psychology” can develop their further career in one of the following areas: continue their studies and conduct postgraduate research at Russian and foreign universities with a PhD degree; work in institutions of higher education and science; work in Russian and international companies. Graduates work on the profile of training in the field of personnel management (HR), consulting and training centers, centers for social support of the population; in schools and universities; in the psychological service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations; in the field of mass communication, advertising and business, actively conduct private practice in the field of personal therapy, psycho-correction of family (marital and child-parent) relationships, etc.
Foreign graduates, as a rule, return to their home countries and work in educational institutions, ministries, in the business sector, as well as in private practice.
