Profession
Television is a significant part of our culture. Even those who grew up in the era of the popularity of the Internet and YouTube know the main channels and watch the most interesting TV programs. Television is still the world's most popular source of information. Most future journalists dream of working on TV. But most professionals actually remain behind the scenes, and the audience does not even think that they see the result of their work. Working on television is fundamentally different from working as a journalist in a newspaper or on the radio because “television is a team effort.” Only by working in a team, you can release high-quality material — for it to go on the air, it takes a lot of work of correspondents, cameramen, lighting, directors and sound engineers.
Educational Process
This is a multidisciplinary program that will prepare graduates to work on entertainment or informational television channels, to conduct journalist investigations and to create serious documentary projects.
The disciplines of the course will help prepare for work in various genres: “Theory and practice of modern television journalism”, “Author's cinema”, “History of documentary films”, “Cultural section of broadcasting in a TV program”, “Popular science TV: history and current state” , “Information TV broadcasting”, “History of animation”, “Internet television”. Training begins with the basics of creating videos, acquiring skills in working on camera, recording news reports and stand-ups, and getting to know the features of working live.
Courses in oratory and TV presenter skills will help to adequately stay in the frame. A graduate will be able to become a universal professional in the television industry through training in video editing, sound engineering, theory and practice of television directing, and the basics of working with the camera.
The “Fundamentals of producing” and “Creative team management” courses will help prepare for managerial work in the television industry.
Practice
Students gain practical experience at the faculty television studio, where they can try themselves in any role: from a videographer to a TV presenter and a production editor. The international broadcasting Internet TV channel “Continents”, operating on the basis of the Faculty of Philology, allows students to create a professional reputation at the international level already during their studies.
Students have the opportunity to practice on national and regional television channels, as well as in other types of media.
Career
Graduates who have mastered the program are ready to work on television in any position: presenters, correspondents, producers, editors, etc., as well as to work in the creative industry, PR companies, advertising agencies and production studios. Training under the program provides an opportunity to work on broadcast, satellite or digital Internet channels. Thanks to the acquired skills, graduates will be able to create video content of various formats for informational, presentational and marketing purposes.
