Profession

Literary criticism is a science that studies fiction as a phenomenon of art and culture, as well as the principles of understanding and interpreting texts. A specialist in the field of literary criticism is supposed to analyze and study classical and modern literature (Russian and foreign), theoretical and comparative poetics. Knowledge of literature is necessary not only for teachers, journalists, culture experts, translators, literary and theater critics, authors and publishing house employees, but also for specialists in the field of cultural diplomacy and regional studies, psychologists, philosophers, lawyers, economists, representatives of PR and HR agencies.


Educational Process

The master program is aimed not only at acquiring theoretical knowledge in the field of philology, Russian and foreign literature, but also at developing the skills of independent analysis of a work of art, as well as mastering the art of teaching literature.
A modern philologist is a highly educated person with a broad intellectual outlook. Therefore, lectures are delivered by modern Russian and foreign writers, poets, critics, literary scholars and philosophers, the program also featuring readings and scientific conferences, literary circles and student scientific societies.
The program is aimed at systematically deepening the scientific base of the future professional philologist, mastering practical methods of holistic, comparative historical and cross-cultural types of analysis of literary texts, expanding the humanitarian horizons, as well as developing practical techniques, skills and abilities of working in a modern multicultural audience, writing literary -critical and theatrical works (and, perhaps, their own works of art).
