On March 28, 2023, within the framework of academic and methodological online seminar of the Foreign Languages Department of the Agrarian and Technological Institute of RUDN University, invited lector Angelo Loreti (Senior Lecturer, Department of Philosophy of Language and Communication, Faculty of Philosophy, Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU)) will give lecture entitled Philosophy of language and intercultural communication, translation”The lecture will be held online via Microsoft Teams.

Languages — the English language, the Italian language & the Russian language.

The lecture will convene the staff of the Foreign Languages Department of the Agrarian and Technological Institute, Ph.D. students and students enrolled in “Translator” program at the Agrarian and Technological Institute (up to 40 attendees).
 

The lecture will explore various questions concerning philosophy of language, intercultural communication, translation, interconnection and interaction of language and culture in the context of modern scientific paradigm. The lecturer will focus particular attention on the notions “meaning” and “semantic vagueness” in the light of Ludwig Wittgenstein’s “Philosophical Investigations” and the sociolinguistic approach of William Labov.

The lecture is scheduled to be held as an interactive event.
