About the event

On June 8 at 16:30 p.m. (Moscow time)

Speaker: Dmitry Nechipurenko, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Physics Faculty, Senior Research Fellow.

Despite decades of active research, currently there is no understanding of the mechanisms that normally provide a physiologically correct response of the hemostasis system to various types of vascular damage. The report is focused on handling this problem using a two-dimensional supercomputer model of thrombus formation, developed earlier. This model allowed us to propose a new mechanism that provides a three-stage dynamics of thrombus formation in response to lateral non-penetrating damage to the vessel. The simulation results also indicate the key role of the dynamics of platelet dense granules secretion in the formation of a hemostatic plug upon vessel dissection and suggest the physiological role of the thrombus shell.
