Visit of the Education Minister of the Republic of Mozambique

October 7, 2013, the delegation of the Republic of Mozambique headed by the Minister of Education Dr. John Luiz Augusto visited Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. The delegation consisted of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mozambique in Russia and Ukraine Mario Saraiva Ngwenya and Director General of the Fellowship Institute Octavio Manuel de Jesus. The delegation was received by the Rector of RUDN University, professor V. Filippov. His welcome speech included the information about the terms of admission and teaching of students from Mozambique in RUDN University and the discussion of possible ways of cooperation. In response the Minister of Education informed about the system of education in Mozambique, the results of talks with the RF Ministry of Education and Science and meeting with the students from Mozambique who study in Russia. He noted the high quality of education in RUDN University and said he was interested in increasing the number of students from Mozambique in RUDN University, first of all in the magistracy and postgraduate course In the course of the negotiations the sides also discussed the possibility of organizing field trips for students of Mozambique at the enterprises, institutions and companies of their country. The questions of Mozambican students` living and academic progress were also touched upon. The sides marked the importance of regular direct contacts between the University and the Embassy on these questions. Regarding the issue of mutual recognition of qualifications the Minister of Education of the Republic of Mozambique noted the autonomy of RUDN University and suggested RUDN University`s rector that they sign the agreement on ordering the Mozambican citizens to study in the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. The suggestion was supported and accepted. At the end of the meeting Mr. Augustus John Louis invited V. Filippov to pay a working visit to Mozambique.
