Experts discuss topical issues of Russian-Korean practical cooperation
June 22, 2018, the World Trade Center (Moscow) hosted the IV Forum "Dialogue Russia - Republic of Korea", a large platform uniting representatives of politics, education, science, culture and business of the two countries, this year devoted to "Russian-Korean practical cooperation for the sake of peace and prosperity".
One of the several thematic working groups - a group on youth policy, was co-chaired by RUDN Rector professor Vladimir Filippov.
In the welcome speech, the chairmen of the Forum and the heads of the working groups paid special attention to finding "supporting themes and projects" for the sustainable development of partnership relations, as well as mechanisms for transforming dialogue into a trialogue, taking into account the political situation on the Korean peninsula. According to Nikolay Kropachev, Rector of St. Petersburg State University, one of the important tools is the exchange of knowledge between young representatives of our countries. Vladimir Filippov supported the thesis and stressed that it is necessary to actively develop educational tourism and conduct "all-season educational schools" on the basis of the leading educational institutions of the two countries.
The Forum's platforms raised the most pressing issues. Thus, the experts of the group "Education and Science" discussed such topics as on-line training, joint educational programs and scientific research, and ways of development of educational tourism.
The seminar of specialists in the field of youth policy "Youth Dialogue" brought together representatives of youth, universities, public organizations and public authorities. The moderators of the event were Larisa Efremova, RUDN Vice-Rector for international activities, and Chon Sonming, executive director of the Youth Foundation of the city of Goyang. Summarizing the results of the Dialogue, it is worth noting the mutual desire of young people of the two countries to become closer not only on a humanitarian basis, but also within the framework of joint scientific and educational projects.
Bilateral relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea intensified in 2010, together with the launch of the "Dialogue Russia-the Republic of Korea" Forum. Based on the results of the two countries' public dialogue held at the World Trade Center, which was attended by more than 200 outstanding representatives and professionals in the sphere of workgroup competencies, the presidents of the two countries received proposals on activities aimed at resolving bilateral initiatives within the framework of sustainable development goals.
