Congratulations of RUDN Rector and President on the University's birthday

For RUDN University 2020 is the year of digitalization, new challenges and achievements. We've all learned how to work online – both1st-year students and professors. We launched the Digital Preparatory Faculty so that new students can start learning Russian before they come to Russia.

Liberia, Malawi, Norway, Trinidad and Tobago and Eswatini (Swaziland) have joined us - now we have students from160 countries. We trained over 5,000 students from 114 countries and hosted our first online graduation party. We have a new employee on the team – Aya, the robot cat, who answers questions about RUDN

For almost a year we worked and studied from home, but this did not make us less productive. We rarely saw each other in person, which made face-to-face meetings even more joyful.

Rector’s assignment for the next year - continue to develop professionally and enjoy more live communication.

My holiday greetings to RUDN students and staff! Happy birthday, RUDN University!

Oleg Yastrebov
Rector of RUDN University

2020 began with a big celebration of the 60th anniversary of our university. Finally, it became a year of reboot for us. We had to change all programs to make them suitable for digital format. We didn’t see each other’s eyes but monitors. Stable Internet connection was more important than a green traffic light on Leninsky Prospekt.

I am grateful to every teacher who was able to organize online classes in just a couple of weeks.

I am grateful to every volunteer who helped people and still continues to help. 1,000 RUDN doctors worked in hospitals. Hundreds of our volunteers came to help the elderly. Dozens of students helped neighbors in hostels.

I am grateful to our graduates. Many supported the students who had to return home. Thanks to their help, RUDN University has remained the most multinational university in Russia - Liberia, Malawi, Norway, Trinidad and Tobago, and Eswatini (Swaziland) have joined us.

I am grateful to the parents of each student who helped their children get higher education in real time.

This year has proven that together we are a university that makes the world a better place.

Happy Birthday, RUDN University!

Vladimir Filippov

“In my work, the main thing is people. Whatever I design, it should be completely satisfying to society,” – Morjadino Da Fonseca Vera Kruz, PhD student at the Academy of Engineering from Sao Tome and Principe

Morjadino flew from warm Sao Tome to Moscow to receive the profession of an architect of buildings and structures. He loves Khrushchev apartment buildings (5-storey buildings of the 60’s), lives according to the laws of Vitruvius and wants to create something useful for society. We asked Morjadino what motivated him to move to Russia, why he chose Architecture and what project he presented at the Golden Section festival.
