Gold, Silver, RUDN took part in Archimedes Salon of Inventions and Innovative Technologies

RUDN scientists shared their research experience and assessed the role of digital technologies in modern science. They discussed mathematical modeling in medicine, new developments in 5G, laser metal printing technology, and mathematical modeling of high-temperature plasma kinetics.
“The emergence of new technologies, such as the haptic Internet and the Internet of Things, inevitably leads to a heavy load on the network. To support new applications, the network must meet certain parameters: have high bandwidth, high reliability, and mobility to keep latency low. My colleagues and I at the RUDN 5G Lab are solving the problem of offloading traffic from communication channels using the method of application offloading to edge computing nodes — answering the question: “How to achieve the expected data transfer speed with ultra-low latency?”, Abdukodir Hakimov, junior researcher at the RUDN the Institute for Applied Mathematics and Telecommunications.
The scientists talked about their discoveries and achievements at a special seminar “Digitalization: instrumental platform for research, new generation technologies (promising solutions for universities)” at the International Salon of Inventions and Innovation Technologies "Archimedes.
This year the Salon was attended by representatives of the inventive community from 19 countries and 33 Russian regions. They demonstrated more than 600 exhibits — inventions, industrial designs, trademarks, and innovation projects. PFUR scientists and engineers took part in the Salon’s competition program.
Samvel Apresyan, professor of the Department of Orthopedic dentistry (RUDN Medical Institute), was awarded the gold medal for the project “A method of personalized dental constructions using digital technologies.
“For the first time we managed to combine high-precision tools of mathematical modeling by finite element method with biomechanical principles of dental system functioning. Even today we can plan functional and aesthetic orthopedic constructions with the help of digital technologies, and correct earlier implant treatment, considering individual features of the patient’s body,” Samvel Apresyan.
The team of engineers Ruslan Huseynov and Mark Dyachenko from RUDN Institute of Innovative Engineering Technologies was awarded a silver medal of the Salon by the international jury.
“Our Smart Moto RUDN team developed an electric motorcycle in a year, using only domestic electric components (engine, controller, battery). The power unit is fully sealed, the motorcycle can be operated when fully submerged in water,” Mark Dyachenko.
On February 1-3, Moscow hosted the conference “Education Foresight: Revival of Traditions vs Declared Innovation”. The conference brought together 2,100 participants from 150 universities in Argentina, Armenia, Belarus, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. On behalf of RUDN University, Olga Mikhailovna Kozarenko, Associate Professor of the Institute of Foreign Languages, made a presentation.
On November 10, the 13th All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “Means of Mass Communication in a Multipolar World: Problems and Prospects” was held at the RUDN Faculty of Philology. 78 researchers from leading Russian universities met at the same site.
5–7 October RUDN University hosted the conference “Commitment to Mental Health”. For three days, the invited participants of the event raised and discussed issues related to the social, psychological and medical aspects of the life of a modern person.
