RUDN Science Festival at Expocentre

RUDN University took part in the exposition of the Moscow NAUKA 0+ Festival at the Expocentre, the largest popular science platform in 2022 in terms of the number of activities. The University was represented by the Faculty of Science, the Agrarian and Techological Institute, the Institute of Ecology, the Institute of Biochemical Technology and Nanotechnology, the Medical Institute, the Higher School of Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship, and the university admissions team.

The RUDN University exposition “Humans and Ecosystems” has become one of the most popular at the festival. Young researchers and university students showed:

  • experiments based on the laws of physics, chemistry and biology;
  • features of the interaction of living and non-living systems from the global to the nanolevel;
  • principles of nature management, creating conditions for life both in regular conditins and in crisis situations.

For young researchers, the organizers held a quest “Planet Earth in the Age of Discovery” and a quiz to choose a profession, for the smallest — art workshops, where the kids “drew their dream” and “the world of the future.”

Science of RUDN University — at Moscow State University

In the Shuvalov building of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Vladimir Pinaev, Associate Professor of the Department of Environmental Safety and Product Quality Management of RUDN Institute of Ecology delivered a lecture “Ecology of the ancestry — restoration of the genelogic tree” at the Festival of Science. He gave practical recommendations on restoring the family tree before 1650, also paying attention to the search based of the data of the First World War and the Great Patriotic War.

“It is important to know who your ancestors were and what they did. This allows you to understand your own place in the modern world and evaluate what is happening. It is important to involve children and adults in the study of history, including genealogy” said Vladimir Pinaev.

It was not boring — it was scientific!

For reference

Events at RUDN University were held as part of the All-Russian Science Festival “NAUKA 0+”. Every year, the University acts as one of the venues for this event and welcomes everyone who wants to get acquainted with the amazing and exciting world of science and research.

In 2017, RUDN University scientists constructed a new explicit second-order precision difference scheme using modern computer algebra methods for 2-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations (NSE) [1]. This year, our mathematicians used a new scheme [2] to construct a numerical solution to the Cauchy problem with initial data (for t=0) as satisfying the continuity equation. Scientists managed to achieve previously unattainable accuracy of the continuity equation.
